I came in with a friend, we both needed costumes altered and fitted. The costumes run large so they can be altered to fit. We went in and waited before someone wandered out and greeted us, snott-ily. We told her what we wanted, then she brought out Diane herself in her socks and Birkenstocks. I knew exactly what I wanted and told Diane. The jacket would be a problem because of the ribbon stitching, but I asked my mother-in-law earlier and she said it can't be all that hard to take in. Diane looked it up and down and said with a curl of her lip "If you wanted the jacket tighter, why didn't you just order the small?" I showed her the tag, "This IS the small." She sighed and rolled her eyes and started pinning. The skirt was below the knee, I needed it mid-thigh. Diane said "This is going to cost you a lot of money, you know?" I should have walked out then, but was all pinned up at that point. She said of my skirt "This is awfully short, you know." I bent over and didn't show anything so it was fine. I even said jokingly "I know how to sit like a lady and not show my goods to the world." And I swear to God I think she mumbled something like "I doubt they're that good." O.O... So I go back a week later to get my costume (it's bright white) and they can't find it. I see it hanging out at the front of the section and told the woman "There it is." And she still can't find it. When she does she slaps it on the counter and I pay her more than what I paid for the costume originally. I get it home and try it on and the skirt is hemmed an INCH HIGHER on the right! Totally lop-sided. The jacket isn't nearly as taken in as we agreed, and in all the wrong places, and there are thread ends hanging out everywhere. I searched it high and low for any spots they may have dripped on it too, which wouldn't have shocked me, but it is blessedly free of stains. I would not recomm

I arrived at 8:45am on a cold foggy morning to drop two jackets for alterations. Despite the fact that there were two employees inside who could have opened the doors a few minutes early, they refused to do so and insisted that I wait outside in the cold. What a luxury that business is good they are able to treat potential customers this way. No way will I ever give them my business!

I took a strapless dress that was maybe a size too big in to be altered. When I picked it up a week later it was so tight that I couldn't zip it up without help (it's a side zip, so it should be easy) or fasten the clasp at the top of the zip. The seamstress told me 1) some people don't like zipping a dress up all the way, 2) most people like to leave the clasp undone, and 3) maybe I could lose some weight. I couldn't believe it. I paid $52 for this? For alterations to make the dress fit worse than it did before -- and to be told I should lose weight before next weekend to make it fit? The dress was a size 4 before the alterations, for pete's sake. She did offer to move the clasp for me. Forget it, I'm taking it elsewhere to get it fixed.

I've taken my things to Diane's from a coat alteration to jeans. I forget how much they charged me for the coat (maybe $26 or something?) but pants hemming is just $10 plus tax. They would first tell you the date it will be done (usually about a week), but if you ask them if they could rush it a bit and have something by certain date (I did this once when I was going on a trip the following week), they will work with you. I've been satisfied with their work thus far, and they have dressing rooms, so you can take the shoes you'll wear with the dress and have them pin it to match the height. P.S. They also have a person doing alterations at Village Cleaners in the U Village Mall, and I know she does formal dress alterations as well. The turnaround time may be slower, however. They said she's busy because it's wedding season. She's only there M-Th.

While it is quite expensive, the work is definetely worth the amount of money spent! They do everything from simple hemming and shortening pants to bringing in prom dresses. The work is high quality and usually gets back to you fairly quickly. I have never had any problems with the service or with the work. It has always come back exactly how I want it and it always looks great!

I have been having alterations done by Diane's since it was basically a one-person operation (admittedly, though, I don't have alterations done very often). Now Diane employs several sewers to help with alterations. I'm not sure if she still does some herself or not. Located by U-Village, it's a non-frou-frou place where you'll get good quality work at a reasonable price.

I've been using Diane's for a couple years now and have always been very pleased. Not only have I taken clothes in to be shortened, I've had pants, dresses and skirts taken in....REALLY taken in....and they all looked like new and fit just great. I haven't done a lot of comparison pricing but with the results I've seen, I'll stick with Diane's!
