When we hired John to help us design a front porch to replace the dilapidated brick one that was literally falling away from our 1926 home.
When he finished our new porch, we had neighbors and people getting out of their cars, all telling us how much they thought the new porch added to the character of our house. The finish work was awesome and the design was in perfect harmony with the architecture of the house.
John was personable to work with, reasonably priced and does incredible work.
Once he finished our porch, we also had him help us with a fence and custom garage door that were equally as brilliant as the porch.

I found Daedalus Construction to do excellent, clean, timely and professional work. I found Daedalus Construction through Judy's Book and hired them based on the first two reviews and after talking with Dan, the owner. Dan always answered my calls or called me back promptly when I left messages. Dan listened to the small interior repair job I needed due to some leakage and water damage, and came out to inspect the site and give me an estimate. Dan was upfront and honest with me about the time and effort required, as well as his own schedule. The work was completed on time and under budget, with excellent quality and no surprises or problems. I would hire Dan and Daedalus Construction again for any future repairs or remodels.

We've been burned by contractors before. Two have gone to jail -- while on the job! And one just did sloppy work, despite good references.
Imagine our delight when we found the two brothers who make up S2 Builders, a new contracting company in Seattle. We tried them out on a custom cabinet for our daughter's tiny bedroom. We wanted it to be highly functional but appropriate to the 100-year-old house we live in. I drew up a design and they built it perfectly -- despite the fact that our house slopes not in one, but in two, directions.
They're honest, hard-working, friendly and skilled. And they don't gouge customers.
We're looking forward to working with them on bigger (and less crooked) projects.

Don Newman is the guy we call whenever we want to do some improvements around our home. He has assisted us through several remodel phases and we will call on him again in the future. He is very fair when it comes to pricing, creative when it comes to design, thourough all the way to completion and shows up (or at least calls) when he is supposed to. If all contractors were like Don, the enitre profession would have a stellar reputation. We have referred him to others and they have all sang his praises as well. I would trust him completely. Nice down to the core!

We interviewed a whole slew of contractors when looking for someone to build us a house. Rehabitat NW was the only group that gave us a great idea for our house - without first asking for money. The lead contractor Steve Detwiller was knowledgeable and provided a great design that we were able to build on. Our personal contact, Olivier was very kind and extremely helpful. We'll be going back to them for our next house and we've already recommended them to many of our friends!

We had our 1926 house bolted down to the foundation by these guys, and they were great. Seismic retrofitting is one of the top things to do to be prepared for emergencies in Seattle. The cost was a little high, but when you consider that it only cost 1.2% of the value of the entire house, and may, if something particularly nasty happens along the Seattle Fault while we're in the house, save our lives, we splurged.
Jackson Remodelling is also know as Sound Seismic, as they have branched out to remodelling from their seismic retrofit work. Many people like to do a full basement remodel along with the retrofit, but we stuck with the basics, which include bolting the mudsill to the concrete foundation, attaching the first floor to the wood foundation walls, and creating stiff sheer walls above the concrete foundation. In installing these walls, they put in insulation, for added comfort.
It took them 5 days, their crew was very friendly, effecient, and tidy, and were willing to to a few little extras at our request. I value a clean jobsite greatly, as it shows they care, and I was happy to see how clean they were at the end of each day.
We are probably going to get bids from them for a little upstairs project we have coming up just because we liked their work so much.

Meg Steere @ J&M undertook a large remodeling job. We reroof, replaced the front and rear elevation, installed new windows, removed interior walls, put in Brazilian Hardwood floors, redid two bathrooms, a lot of electrical and more. She did a beautiful job coordinating with her subs and did a lot of the work herself with help. She was on budget and on time. I'd use Meg again.
