When selling our house, we had a special chimney inspector look at the chimney. HE said it was great. The buyers wanted money off, so they got their own "inspection" from Emerald City complete with write-up that I needed to spend $25k. Except they had never been to my house. I was there all day the day they supposedly came. They lied. Now I need some work done for a totally unrelated masonry item. Not sure who to use, but I won't hire people who will go along with a scam.

A couple of years ago, we had Emerald out to clean our chimney. At that time, we were satisfied with them. The person they sent was very knowledgable about how to fix our problems. However... This year, we set up an appointment two weeks in advance to have them give us an estimate on pointing, capping, and lining the chimney in our new home - and they didn't show up. The main office called a day before the scheduled time to be sure WE were going to be there, but then they did not come - or even call to say where they were. Excuse me for thinking that when one is going to pay more than $2,000, you deserve a phone call. After waiting the whole 2-hour time slot, I called Emerald to see if they were still coming. Their person answering the phones could not tell me when or if they were going to come at all – even though she acknowledged my appointment. Maybe Emerald takes its customer service cues from Comcast. This customer will never return. March 2007

Emerald City Chimney provides good value and service. They have cleaned out our chimney and given us good advice on its condition and what to look for down the road. I was impressed that they did not try to sell us a bunch of stuff we didn't need. (Yet they advised regarding aspects of our 100 year old house that were not up to current code.) Good, reliable service, in our experience.
