The manager plays "bad cop" and has a pat answer to anything you may ask (guy with the beard.) For your amusement, go in there sometime and just watch him field all the problems that come in. Many people leave pissed off. Never again am I going to this branch.

I totally disagree with Jessica B, who says that the Mac Store is geared at making money off college students. College students at UW get a student discount at the University Book Store computer store... so she's way off base there.
Trust me. If you want good, solid advice regarding Mac producst, this is where you want to go.

The Mac Store, located just inside the U-District, is clearly a place geared at profiting off of the abundance of nearby college students. The proximity to UW serves to drive up prices on all of their products, and any sort of repair work is NOT cheap. If you are looking to buy Apple products, I'd head right to the source, and go to the Apple Store in the U-Village shopping center, and for repairs, I'd look in classifieds. Good for UW students without a car, but for non-students, why pay extra?

When I was shopping for my Imac G5 I did a lot of research online but still had a few questions for which I couldn't find answers. I went to the Mac store and was immediately helped by a very knowledgeable sales person who had the answers to all of my questions. Even better, he demonstrated what he was saying on one of the computers in the store.
I also used the Mac Store to restore information after my computer crashed. The technician was brilliant and was able to retrieve all of my photos and documents. Best of all, he only charged me for about two hours of time when he actually worked on my machine for the better part of two days. Great service!

The Mac Store in the U-district always grabs my attention when I walk by on 45th street—the clearance table is in plain sight through the window, always filled with esoteric accessories for your iPod or some software program that you didn’t know you needed.
Northwest owned and operated, The Mac Store is a less glamorous counterpart to the Apple company stores—more down-to-earth sales, service and keen advice rather than an extension of the all important brand.
But don’t worry, they have all the latest sleek toys and would love to show them to you anytime you wander in.

I'm a huge fan of Apple computers, and I really like shopping at Apple's retail stores. That said, a few months ago I found myself shopping for a case for my new Powerbook, and I really wasn't happy with the selection offered at the Apple Store.
I headed over to The Mac Store and was really impressed with the store, the staff, and the selection of products they stocked.
The staff were nice and laid back, but very knowledgeable, and struck the perfect balance of being available to answer questions and letting you browse on your own.
I was so impressed with my first experience at The Mac Store that I have returned several times since to pick up other accessories.
