I like Verite not only for it's unique ambiance, but also because they just plain make a good cup of coffee. I don't find them particularly friendly or exceptionally comfortable, but their store is nice enough, with fun artwork sometimes from the local elementary school, and there's really nothing wrong with the location or decoration. Plus I like a company that takes a great cup of coffee seriously, both taste-wise and aesthetically, and though I haven't tried the cupcakes, I hear they are pretty outstanding.

I love Verite. The baristas serve up some mean coffee but perfectly balanced though never weak. Of course, the cupcakes are a wonderful addition to the coffee -- watch your waistline, however (and your pocket book for that matter). One qualm I have is the Madrona location often fills up annoying clientel at times -- loud kids and laptop campers. Some people sit with their laptop, occupying a 4-top for many hours. Then the screaming kids come in and touch the glass, even though it says "don't scare the cupcakes" the parents don't do anything to stop them. Despite the kids and geeks, I still like Verite, mainly for the kickass coffee and the tall guy with dirty blonde hair and a bit of sass.

This little coffee place in Madrona has good coffee, a nice atmosphere, and a delicious assortment of cupcakes! They have a place in Ballard too I guess, though I haven't been to it. Check out the website at http://www.cupcakeroyale.com/ for more info on the cupcakes. Verite is a good place to go to chat with someone or to read or to work on your laptop - just like most other Seattle coffee houses. My most recent visit was on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty crowded, but not too loud, and the mocha I got was delicious!

It's excellent, and a great neighborhood joint. It's always busy, but there is always a seat available too! Only suggestion is a few more low sugar options for kids.

A fine hangout coffeeshop. The espresso is good. The cupcakes are a tasty treat. Can't justify a nice chunk of cake? Get a babycake, a sweet little mini cupcake to satisfy your cupcake craving. Pick up a Cupcake Royale shirt too. The location is right, take the kids to the playground then walk across the street and treat yourself. Or drop the kids at school around the corner first.

Almost any day of the week you can find me at Verite coffee. It's got the things I love about a cafe: friendly staff, good conversation, large windows, free wireless, good pastry, fulfilling snacks, and excellent coffee. It also has the famous Cupcake Royale cupcakes and is very child friendly (there's a playground across the street as well).

Cafe Verite is my dream of a coffee house. The people who work there are nice, yet hip, they remember what kind of java i like (short drip with room), it's a great space in a great neighborhood, they play the same music i listen to at home (Niko Case, Belle & Sebastian, etc.) AND they serve cupcakes! What could be better???
