It's an old story. Liquor and a friend who needed to move in a big hurry screwed up my lower back permanently. Dr. Devine restored it to great working condition. I was especially impressed by how Dr. Devine kept up with my progress and modified his approach over time. He taught me a number of stretching and strength-building exercises that I do semi-faithfully, and my back has improved to the point that I'm training for this year?s Jingle Bell Run. A year ago, that would have been unimaginable.
Finding a great chiropractor or massage therapist is like prospecting for gold in the desert, but here you can find both.
The service is wonderful! So far, I've had the pleasure of working with the two different massage therapists, Stephanie and Tyler, (I consider them artists, sculpting an undulating medium of pain and grotesque misalignment into a serene placid plane, sort of like deconstructing the gates of hell into a sunny meadow somewhere in the Alps).
And yes, let me discuss the massages a bit more. The facilities are clean and lovely. I have fallen asleep on the table, lulled into peaceful bliss by the masseuse's expert wrangling of trigger points. I'm not someone who can easily relax, so it's saying something that I can happily let go for an hour and allow a healing of hands, so to speak.
Best thing I ever did for myself! You will not regret a visit or 20.
Pros: Best adjustment and massage in town.

I'm very close to agreeing to knee replacement surgery but I decided to try every option open to me to avoid it. I had limped on a sore bent knee for over 2 years. I was not able to walk with foot flat on the floor.
Within the first week, I could walk with my foot on the floor without pain. Really just amazing.

Some people are afraid to go to chiropractors because of bad experiences with others. I hear you. I ran away from this other chiropractor before I found Dr Devine. Some chiropractors are very pushy about how often you have to go, and it scares people. People don't want or trust someone who acts too "sales-person-y". Dr Devine is not pushy at all, and I really like that. I have neck/shoulder pain and tension, and I always feel so much better after I see him. Also, he often shows me exercises I can do on a balance ball to strengthen areas of my neck/shoulder/back that give me problems, and he has even discussed my work out routine and what exercises he thinks are more beneficial or harmful. Once, when I used to work 1 block from his office, he even came to my desk and checked the ergonomics of my chair and computer set up. I stopped going for a while because of my insurance/job situations, but I missed it. Also, the receptionists are so personable and easy going.
Pros: Best treatment for neck/shoulder pain.

I have gone to over 10 different chiropractors and Dr. Devine is certainly my favorite. I have had very little back pain since I started visiting him and my neck is considerably better. He has a great philosophy about health and wellness and we constantly are discussing ways to improve my diet and my exercise routine. He has a great assortment supplements and super foods as well as a variety of proteins from raw brown rice protein to goatein. He is always friendly and upbeat and has a phenomenal staff. He does whatever is necessary to accommodate his patients. He is professional and down to earth, you just can't find a better doctor than Dr. Devine! – Kris D

Finally, a chiropractor I can trust. I have suffered with extreme back pain for most of my life. After trying conventional treatment on and off over the years and a couple chiro's, I found Dr. Devine. At every visit, Dr. Devine figures out what is really wrong, "sets me straight," and prescribes a treatment plan that actually works. While I'll continue to visit my MD for my yearly physicals and the occasional infection, I will bring my structural issues to Dr. Devine

As an LMP I am very picky when it comes to who I recommend. They have to meet my own standards of patient care, listening, doing the RIGHT thing and really hearing what clients say.
Dr James is all that. His warm personality couples with amazing skill and the willingness to hear your desires and adjust his techniques to meet (exceed) your expectations.
No diamond in the rough here - a truly honed, honest and polished gem of a find!
Dr Devine is who I send my patients to.
Dr Devine is who treats ME. And that is saying something if you know me. :) I'm monster picky!

By far, Dr. Devine is not only divinely - no pun intended -competent, he is also supremely effective in his treatment! In my most greatest need for truly immediate, results-oriented care, he not only delivered but he also demonstrated the most genuinely caring and compassionate care I've ever experienced from a chiropractor. He always "begins with the end in mind" and treats you intentionally with a "divine" plan of healing in mind. Typically listening intently to my compliaints, he would immediately set out to skillfully and gently apply his well-honed interventions that brought relief, but also would always send me off with some homework "booster" exercises. My follow-up appointments were consistently helpful, and his successful pattern of treatment lasted to the very last day of seeing this divinely gifted practitioner until I left Seattle for Philly - and I'm still searching for someone just like him! He's truly one of a kind and I'll never forget his par excellence service, evidence-based treatments backed up with his many years of solid experience, his compassionate touch, heart-warming bedside manners, and above all, his smiles and encouragingly positive attitude! Thank you, James, for all your wonderful years of care - miss you terrribly and hope to come out just for a tune-up one of these days.
Joseph

I usually don't write reviews online, but I had to make an exception to write about my experiences so far at Tuttle & Devine Chiropractic in downtown Seattle. I work as a ICU/Recovery room nurse, and I am also an avid runner. I injured my back from overuse last year, and sought numerous doctors and other health care specialists (physical therapy, massage therapy) for help this year , including other chiropractors. I really didn't feel that I got any better after seeing the other chiropractors until I went to see Dr. James Devine & Dr. Nathan Moore recently. I was getting frustrated that I wasn't getting any relief from my low back/hip pain, and a nurse friend suggested I try chiropractic again. So, I found Dr. Devine through Citysearch. After reading the glowing reviews about his practice, I decided to try chiropractic again. Well, after about 5 visits now, I have literally no low back/hip pain !!! Dr. Devine has such a great bed-side manner, and he is so easy to talk to. He immediately puts you at ease, and is a great teacher about your overall health and well being. He really cares and it is not just about giving you an adjustment and your done. I also had the opportunity to get trigger point therapy/adjustments from Dr. Nathan Moore. With his help, my hip/shoulder muscle pain is gone and the tension and stress is gone as well. Dr. Moore has also taught me some valuable stretching exercises, which has really helped me as well. I am just so glad that I gave chiropractic another try, and feel so much better already. It just feels so good to not have that annoying pain all the time.... If you are hesitating trying a chiropractor, please go see Drs. Devine, Moore & Tuttle at Tuttle & Devine Chiropractic. You will realize on your first visit that you have found the right place for you for pain relief and great care.
