If you're willing to splurge, and want a REALLY good cake, I highly suggest Whole Foods' bakery on Roosevelt. They've done a great job for me on custom cakes before. They're esp. good if you love high quality chocolate cakes or cakes for those with special dietary needs. The staff are always helpful, and if you give them a few days or a week's notice, they're able to whip up something extraordinary.
Hope this helps!

I have been both using and referring others to this company for the past 13 years, including as a professional wedding consultant. This business, owned by two terrific gentlemen, provides delicious food, excellent quality, and service with a smile. You can either use their services at their events facility, The Hall at Fauntleroy in West Seattle, or hire them for off-site catering anywhere in the Puget Sound area. They love to be creative, will work with themes, and have many years of experience under their collective belts. They're terrific, and you can't go wrong if you want a worry-free wedding or event.

Great food, awesome service--I would never even consider using another caterer after the last event Tony's catered for me. It is clear that he cares deeply about making sure my guests have a great time and that allowed me to enjoy myself at my event. Thanks, Tony's!

The Dome Room is located in the Arctic Building, downtown, on the corner or 3rd and Cherry. It is a banquet room that can handle over 200 people and has an antique glass domed ceiling that lights up. The dome is the highlight of the room and provides an art deco like, classy, ambiance. I had my wedding there, and with the dance floor in the middle of the room under the dome and all the tables surrounding it, you can't help but have a great time. There is also an attached area with large windows at one end that has room for buffet and extra dinner tables and a bar. I?ve looked at many different types of banquet type rooms and this one is in the low to mid price range. Arrangements are made with Tony's Catering, and you can use them as a caterer for your event or not. It gets a little pricey if you don't go with them (lots of add on charges). We chose to use them and really liked the food. Another plus is that you bring your own alcohol, which is a HUGE savings over many banquet/catering/hotel options. The feel of the room is what makes this such a great spot for weddings, parties, or banquets. I highly recommend it!

What they have done, just with wood, in the lobby, creates something beautiful than most places many people will ever visit. The bathrooms are nice enough to make one's home -- though albeit not if their present use were to be maintained. Their tea room has ceilings that must be at least 18' and is a great place to have tea after surviving some extremely difficult time in one's life, because everything is so perfect and beautiful. This is the point at which most people's money may run out.... But go, just to verify that it's real.

This little cafe is in Mt. Baker on 31st, tucked away in a mostly residential neighborhood. Service is friendly, ambience is cozy, pastries are very, VERY good! My latte was good (but not on the par of, say, Fuel, when the gal that runs the place makes it).
I have heard that Sweet & Savory makes outstanding meals to go, also. See SeattleBonVivant.com for her very thorough review of the meals.
This would be a great place to go for a romantic coffee date. (Did not see a single laptop there!)

If you crave for soup, salad, and, Soup Daddy is the place to go! It's kind of a New Yorkish deli where you line up at the counter, get your order in and wait for it on the side while it's being made in front of you! It's located in Pioneer Square and the place has decent seating but it gets really crowded during lunch! There is always a long line if you go there at noon. Their seafood gumbo and Caesar salad are awesome. They feature different soups daily so you never get the same kind every day! Their sandwiches are huge and tasty! I love the BLT and Tuna Melt there. Highly recommended!

If you must have an event on a boat, or near water, here is an option for some.
It is an old ferry boat from the former Gig Harbor Tacoma ferry run.
It is a decent space, although it is kind of weird that it is separated by the staircases that lead to the passenger deck. The rooms are where the cars used to park. the boat doesn't move. It is a bit difficult for sound purposes because the people usually eat on one side of the boat and then dance on the other, making getting adequate sound to the other side difficult, and the venue doesn't leave really any room for additional speakers to be placed.
One of the event planners on the boat is not personable AT ALL. The one who usually oversees events is good at her job, as well as friendly.
Why anyone would want a party on a boat that doesn't move I don't know... must be a shortage of reception spaces.
