First time there, I met people early in the evening. It wasn't busy, the food came fast. The sushi was decent, but I'm no sushi expert. The Pad Thai had too much ketchup (you don't HAVE TO use ketchup in Pad Thai) couldn't taste any garlic, fish sauce or chilies. Had something in green curry. It was bright green and had nearly no flavor. Even if it had chilies in it, it shouldn't be bright green. Had something else that didn't even register. I never knew thai food could be bland. Bring your own garlic, chilies, spices and fish sauce. Pros: dining room pleasant Cons: the food

We arrived at 6:30, in time for a bit of happy hour and took advantage of the $2 Sapporos and $4 selection of sushi (we had the unagi, seattle and albacore tataki) which was fairly good. It took a very long time for the tataki to come out first, then at least another 20 minutes until we got the sushi. It was surprising as it wasn't busy at all, but it did have a nice ambience outside. My husband had good luck with his main course, a special with rice noodles, pork and dry green curry--I went with the sure bet (i thought) and had the Chicken Pad Thai. They only had 3 star spice ratings, so I was safe and went for the 2 star. If you like things with at least a bit of kick, try 3 star pad thai or something else. It was way too sweet and I'm sure I won't eat my leftovers. Was looking forward to trying out this place for a bit, but not sure when (if) I will return. Pros: Ambience Cons: Wait, Service

i don't know why we still even try to order from this awful restauarant. it isn't good sushi anyway. the only reason we do try b/c it is the only sushi close by to pick up and every time it is a problem, the girl who answers the phone doesn't know what planet shes on. every time it is an ordeal, the food isn't good like Wasabi, Hana or Ohana. tonight, the girl dare answer the phone and said it was an hour wait for pick up. we hesitantly said ok and then she said "are you serious? you wanna wait an hour? we are really busy". One of our favorite sushi restaurants in town. Jae has fresh, delicious fish and his preparations are excellent and creative. We would recommend sitting at the Sushi bar and allowing Jae to whip up a menu for you based on what is fresh and his favorites -- you won't be disappointed. If you don't choose the omakasa option, order the negihama hand roll, TNT roll or sashimi with a ponzu sauce. Chinoise is also family friendly and toddlers are frequent visitors to the sushi bar. Went there to have dinner with an out of town friend was totally embarrassed by the restaurant! Waited 45min for our food and the raw fish was totally inedible. The meat was flaky and the stench was unberable!!!! They obviously used ingredient that was not fresh at all. We couldn't believe we waited 45min for such low quality showing. We just dropped our money on the table after 2 bites got up and left. I was ready to go off to the manager but didn't want to make a scene with my friend there. There are lots of other good pan-asian resturants in Seattle, avoid this one like the bubonic plague.

We've been eating sushi in Seattle since there were only handful of sushi restaurants here. Jae (the main chef) is very well schooled in all aspects of sushi etiquette. He is meticulous, courteous, and knowledgable. He goes the extra mile to find the freshest and finest cuts of fish. His rice / fish ratio is always spot on (and no skimping on the more expensive items!) It is not glamour sushi, supersized sushi, or low budget sushi - it is simply unpretentious ambrosia. 5 stars for this particular Chinoise! If you're in Seattle and want the best possible taste of Japan, look no further. Pros: Outstanding Fish, Dynamite Chef, Excellent Value

Living nearby, we eat here regularly - or rather, get takeout. The menu has great authentic dishes from all over Asia. Highly recommended are the pad thai noodles, green bean curry, and bird's nest stirfry. Dishes are consistently excellent, full of flavor, healthy and fresh. Sushi is very good, not the best in the city and pricey - there are better locations for that, but you can't go wrong with the rest of the menu. Portions are filling without being too large. There's little ambience here and service on the weekends can be *really* slow, but the food can't be beat. Great bet for a weeknight, lunch or takeout. Pros: Food Cons: Ambience, Slow service
