I wrote this review a while ago but they are my business CPA office. They've been great and I've been using them for 3 years. As a testament to how much we like them, my business partner is a former CPA and accountant, and he's very pleased with their services. We recommend them to our real estate clients too. Another CPA we really like working with is Phil Maxeiner based in Kirkland.

If you don't itemize then it's usually not going to make a big difference. Also, you should get a different tax preparer if that is what they are doing. I've rated Foster and Company before in this venue and I'll tell you that you really need to work with a firm that will EXPLAIN the tax issues to you so you know what to do and what to plan for. Most people don't itemize, particularly if they don't own a home, or depending on their income bracket. Even with 70% of the US population owning homes in some areas the cost of the home's interest annually is too low to qualify a deduction larger than the standard.
Try contacting the folks at Foster and Company for next year's return if you want to get a good response.

I've been doing business with Foster + Company for several years now and I've recommended them to many of my real estate clients. In particular, I have come to know Rick Mangan very well as well as one of the owners, Courtney Foster. Walking into their offices is a little like walking into a small software firm because a lot of games abound in their open areas - like ping pong, fighting robots, and more. While the atmosphere may be low key the professionalism is still evident when you're working with the staff. Foster + Co, along with other professionals, has done an annual speaking engagement for my clients to give updates on how the latest IRS rules might impact their investments and tax returns for that year.
Their lowkey approach may not be for everyone but they are a good crew of people.
