I love Smokin' Pete's BBQ in Ballard! They have a great family combo meal if you want to try a little bit of everything and also have live music. I've been eating there for a couple years now and have not been disappointed (except for maybe the cornbread). Mmmm... pete's.

Hard to find good BBQ north of the Fremont Bridge but Smokin' Pete's is definitely worth a try if you're a BBQ guy!
They have a nice menu including chicken, several types of links, ribs (pork and beef) and brisket. My fave is the brisket sandwich at $7.95 and it is chock full of great tender beef!
I've found the chicken to be up and down; great hot links; and often they feature blackened items or unusual dishess that look good but that I don't often try because I'm stuck on the brisket. I do, also, choose the ribs from time to time and I've never been disappointed. Usually very meaty although occasionally I've been had by too much bone. Not the norm, however.
Always go spicy 'cause it is the best!
Lots of side dishes but I choose the slaw or beans. I'm not a greens person but it looks okay if you like greens. Also, potato salad, macaroni and cheese (which is really too tame - I don't recommend that because I like a cheesier flavor) and several desserts: pies; cheesecake; cookies; etc.
Nice people and very casual. I've noticed they have live music on weekends but I don't go every weekend so don't know if that is always the case.
JUST A GOOD PLACE TO EAT FOR A REASONABLE PRICE IF YOU'RE HUNGRY FOR BALLARD BBQ!

Smokin’ Pete’s stands out as a neighborhood joint that has, at some point, actually paid attention to the art of smoking. Smoked to a perfect fat-mostly-rendered tenderness and happily moist, the meat is served dry (free of sauce) so that one can actually taste the smoke. There are sauce options at hand. Taste them. Don’t overuse them. The ‘hot’ is not, particularly, and I haven’t been able to taste the difference between the presauce ‘hot’ and ‘not’ levels of spice. Perhaps the offer is meant more as a psychological balm aimed at whatever local neurosis has limited Seattle barbecue to its generally unfortunate state.
