The produce seems good for a great price, but I have to say the checkers have an air of rudeness to them. I guess you could blame it on a bad day or being stuck in a checkstand out in the Seattle elements on a cold winter day, but I have walked away feeling uncomfortable on more than one occassion.

rising sun offers really great prices and is a great way to save money and still keep your diet chock full of fruits and veggies. but a lot of their produce is damaged, and you have to really pick and choose to get the good stuff. also, a lot of their stuff - even the non-organic - goes bad within 2-3 days. i'm not sure why; maybe they buy the produce that supermarkets reject? i have asked them how they keep prices low, and they always say "low overhead", but that doesn't explain why their overall quality is so much lower than the regular market.

I've always been impressed with the great variety of produce at Rising Sun. It would be nice if there were more organics, but it's an excellent place to buy items that aren't heavily sprayed anyway (onions, broccoli, bananas in particular). Best of all, I often walk away with a couple of big bags for under $10. I make a point of stopping here on the way to Whole Foods to see what I can pick up on the cheap.

This market has excellent locally and internationally grown produce. If you live anywhere near NE 65th and 15th Ave NE, this market should be your first choice for fruits and vegetables - supermarkets just can't compete with their quality and price. There are some organic options here as well, but I especially like getting the locally grown food - it's nice to know my food didn't have to cross an ocean just so I could eat it. There's some on-site parking and it's on the 48 and 71/72/73 bus lines, and near the 66 bus.

I sure like to go here, Convenient, its been there for YEARS. The outdoorsness of it, they are helpful when you ask questions, and prices are good. Beats going to grocery store when you want just produce. Its colorful and uplifting. I'd like to have my own produce stand so I can eat fruit all day long

Located near Roosevelt High School at 15th Ave NE and NE 65th, Rising Sun often has some great produce prices. It's worth passing by to see the deal of the day listed on the reader board. The "stand" (more like a half-inside, half-outside store) also sells seasonal items like pansies and pumpkins.

Rising Sun produce has some great deals on fruit and vegetables. There’s just one problem, whatever I get there seems to be ready for the compost bin within about 3 days of bringing it home. This is just-in-time produce at its best. If you are going to eat it today or tomorrow, Rising Sun is the place for you. Otherwise, you’ll have very contented worms.

Rising Sun is an excellent all year produce stand. Their fruits and vegetables are almost always fully ripe, a great change from the hard and unripe fruits at many grocery stores. You may have to pick through a bit to find good pieces, but their prices can't be beat. They don't usually have organic produce, but the selection is fantastic. They also sell some local products, honey and breads, and some dried fruits.

Rising sun is a great little market in the Ravenna neighborhood, just east of Roosevelt and north of University Village. Their produce is organic and always tastes great. It also has nuts and a few other items as well.
It's a super alternative to the grocery when shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables and you don't have to fight the crowds of Pike Place Market.
