This company's woods are fantastic for the hearth cooking we do in our kitchen fireplace. Prompt delivery and good price. Their fruit woods are all we will use for cooking; roast chicken, with no seasoning aside from salt and pepper, is amazingly flavorful! Hot-burning woods like these are best.

For three years I have lived in my home with an eyesore. The previous owners had installed a refuse burner that was not to code and was hideous! It was hideous in 1970, so you can only image how awful it was in 2009. I Have called multiple different companies to pay to have it removed but to no avail.. "Too heavy","Not worth it."
Today Darrell & Thomas came to my home to do my service partner check & while visiting I mentioned the refuse burner and they TOOK IT OUT! No big deal, No charge, just took it out because they like to be helful! I am in shock & so pleased, I am a Gene Johnson customer forever!!

Five stars are not enough to rate Andy we need at least 5 more. From the beginning he was enthusiastic and flexible. His ability to listen and work with us on what we envisioned as our dream deck was why we selected him as our contractor. We threw him a challenge when we asked for intricate cut outs on the fence railing on the deck and he drew energy from that challenge. As the deck evolved he offered suggestions and added little touches to make it special for us. We are thrilled with the finished product as well as how clean he left the area when the project was done. We would highly recommend him to anyone.

We had our 1926 house bolted down to the foundation by these guys, and they were great. Seismic retrofitting is one of the top things to do to be prepared for emergencies in Seattle. The cost was a little high, but when you consider that it only cost 1.2% of the value of the entire house, and may, if something particularly nasty happens along the Seattle Fault while we're in the house, save our lives, we splurged.
Jackson Remodelling is also know as Sound Seismic, as they have branched out to remodelling from their seismic retrofit work. Many people like to do a full basement remodel along with the retrofit, but we stuck with the basics, which include bolting the mudsill to the concrete foundation, attaching the first floor to the wood foundation walls, and creating stiff sheer walls above the concrete foundation. In installing these walls, they put in insulation, for added comfort.
It took them 5 days, their crew was very friendly, effecient, and tidy, and were willing to to a few little extras at our request. I value a clean jobsite greatly, as it shows they care, and I was happy to see how clean they were at the end of each day.
We are probably going to get bids from them for a little upstairs project we have coming up just because we liked their work so much.

I wanted a quote on a new furnace. This place had been recommended to me as giving fair prices and excellent service. I telephoned and made an appointment for a quote. The sales rep came out, took a look, measured my home, talked to me about my needs, and in a few days I received a detailed quote with several clearly-delineated variables. I emailed him for clarification on a couple of points and got an immediate response.
I had the work done, and I was very impressed with how clear the office staff was on how long the installation was likely to take. That was helpful. The staff who came out were very nice fellows and hard workers. They even took the trouble to explain to me how to clean the filters in the Honeywell air cleaning system attached to the old furnace. They reattached it to the new one, and told me that it was the same, essentially, as the systems they are selling now. I appreciated that they did not try to convince me I needed a new one, when it just needed cleaning.
Later, I had my ducts cleaned by the same company. Again, I was very impressed by the courteous and detailed service I received. The guy took special pains to keep my carpets clean and to make sure my cats did not escape outdoors.
PROS: They know what they are doing, and they treat you right
CONS: No negatives
