Advised him that I had just that due to multiple reinstalls and new computers and hard drives with all reasonable precautions taken. His response was "I'll do it as a challenge." I had told him that I thought something was inherent in the motherboard because of frequent reinstalls I had done.
One month and about $250 later after he provided "security" services the security problem again arose again resulting in the crash of a newer laptop.
My last communication to him via email was "Your Arrogance Belies Your Ignorance." And in that communication I sent him a link to a March 2009 article entitled called "Researchers Aim Low for Root Kit Hardware." The article concerned insidious BIOS virus root kits and commented on just how difficult detection and removal of such viruses is. (Now I know that minimally a BIOS has to be flashed to even begin to be successful against such a beast and it apparently takes about five minutes to do that.
This article was found by me in an on line search about security about three months after he provided his "security" services in September, 2010.
Advice: Don't be a victim of false arrogance.

If you are like me, you normally would feel helpless when computer crashes... That happened to me couple days before New Years. Taking it to a repair shop, of course you can't avoid the fear that because you are clueless about the subject, they can take advantage of you. Pretty much what happened to me with the first shop I took my laptop too. Just to do diagnoses, they charged me $40. In couple of days final verdict was that hard drive is dead and I have to replace it ($80) and it will take about 2 - 3 hours of labor - altogether about $250... and that without data recovery... I decided to shop around and saw Erin's shop with great reviews. Stopped by on Thursday. Erin said to call back in few hours. Long story short, I had my laptop in same condition before crash (with full data recovered) next morning (NYE!) and no hardware replacement was needed and I only had to pay less then one third of what the over shop was to charge me without data recovery. Erin is very honest and true professional, who has great knowledge of what he does. Absolutely trustworthy, which is not easy to find, specially in this economy. Would recommend him to all my friends!

I had never had a need before and I will admit I am very computer illiterate. My computer had a virus and I had made it worse by trying to get spyware installed and actually downloaded another virus. Anyway, in 1 1/2 hours he had my computer fixed with no virus and new free security installed! I was told this sevice would cost me a lot more money than the $45. dollars I was charged!!!! Thank you Erin.
The place is a little hard to find but well worth the effort!
