I declined to have my 09 s40 bought back under the Washington State "lemon law" because I love it. However the service I repeatedly get at the service dept. really makes me regret that decision. I will continue driving out of my way to use Sandberg volvo where they are dependable everytime.

Moved from a Subaru Forester XT to a Volvo XC90 and it was a mistake. I have gripes with the car, like the turning circle being so large I can't get round sharp corners without reverising but I currently have a real issue with the AWD.
It's snowing in Seattle and I got stuck in a QFC carpark with the front wheels spinning and the rear ones not moving. For AWD...that's a joke. Subaru's were pulling up hills opposite and even other Volvo's were moving (with spin...but still moving).
Not to worry - I called Bob Byers to mend it and get me a loaner so I can get about...but wait...they are not releasing cars while there's snow out there. So my Volvo may have an issue that requires an overnight stay and they will not provide a loaner car because it may get damaged, even though it's on my insurance. Doesn't sound like the type of customer service you'd expect does it? Not only is it not the level of service I would expect from a premium car dealership, it's just plain poor customer service. I expect my car to work - and when it doesn't, I would hope the dealer that sold it to me would take care of me. It's a shame they don't see things this way too.
I'm not going to blame the staff at Bob Byers - it's the owners that set the tone and the policy and if Volvo have any say in the matter, they should send the owners to re-training.

After a not-so-satisfactory experience at Ravenna Volvo I ended up going back to the service department for an emergency repair. If a business fails to offer good service the first time around I typically do not return. However, the windows in our XC stopped working last week so I stopped by without an appointment to see if someone had any ideas--I had stopped by 2 weeks ago for the same problem and the service adviser 'advised" me that the earliest he could see me was 2 weeks away. Yesterday, after a luke warm welcome, these guys came through with excellent service--helping me troubleshoot the problem and, of course, charging me 208$ for a new part. But they did not charge for the troubleshooting or the installation. The guy I worked with was named Scott--he was excellent.
Something tells me hese guys have gotten used to the 'upscale' crown in Ravenna and they simply do not need to fight for customers--but yesterday they were great and we will go back--and consider them when we trade in our '99 XC.
