I had to buy a bridesmaid dress at this store and I hope I never have to enter it again. The service was awful and bordering on rude. Also the dress they made was too large so I had to pay for alterations and it was still too big when I got it back. I decided to stop the bleeding and get the dress altered somewhere else. When I show people the dress, they are shocked that I had to pay over $300 for it. They even lost the measurements for one of the other bridesmaids.

Cicada bailed me out with no notice after a nightmare experience at Marcella's. My extremely expensive designer dress purchased from Marcella never arrived. Only days before my very large and formal wedding, I arrived at Cicada in tears after having been lied to and sworn at by Marcella herself. The very gracious and supportive women at Cicada turned a terrible pre-wedding situation into a great experience. Within a few days, working late hours, they made me a fabulous dress that I absolutely fell in love with, fit perfectly and that I will treasure forever. These are very very nice people, with a high service standard and who truly care about their clients happiness. Sadly, they politely admitted that I was not the first to arrive on their doorstep after a similarly bad experience with Marcella. E

Six years ago I had my simple, modern wedding dress (not so much a gown) made by a dressmaker (Elizabeth) at Cicada. From design to collaboration to service it was a stellar experience (my Dupioni silk dress and a organza wrap came in at about $500.00, shoes were $200.00..but that is another review), so much so that six months ago when my husband and I decided to renew our vows, I went back to them. The second time around was hit and miss and miss...all service issues. It really broke my heart. I wanted it to be just like it had been. It wasn't. Offering a combination of custom and couture dresses, I think Cicada Bridal is worth serious consideration, but be very clear about YOUR expectations for any appointment you make. After all this is YOUR time and money. If you are making an appointment to talk about their process, know that. If you are making a consultation appointment with a dressmaker and want to look at designs and get fitted, know that--and make sure they know that too. And if you can work with a woman named LaDawn King, your chances of success will increase exponentially. POST SCRIPT-December 4. Just today I went to Cicada with a bride-to-be and it was a good experience. We were attended to graciously and all our questions were answered with patience and a fair amount of humor. So great to have a better taste in my mouth.

Wonderful custom made and locally designed wedding gowns. They also have tons of special occasion dresses that would be perfect for the mother of the bride, bridesmaids or any special occasion. The shop is owned by two women who design and make all the dresses. This was the first place I tried on wedding gowns and it was so much different than any other store I visited. Where else can you say “I like the bottom of this dress, and the top of this dress, but without this and maybe add a little of this” and they respond with “okay, no problem”?! I didn’t ultimately buy my dress here; however I would recommend a visit to this store for any bride to be!

While it can be pricey, the staff was friendly and it is without a doubt the store to go to if you have a dream wedding dress in your mind that you want to make a reality. They will make it for you.

The moment I walked in this little wedding dress shop, I noticed how beautiful the dresses and the fabrics were. I found them to be unique which was very appealing to me. I was ultimately not able to consider getting a dress here due to my budget and my fairly short engagement. There just wouldn't have been time to have anything custom made, which is what they do here. I found the staff to be a bit cold and not very helpful.

The first store I made an appointment with to try on bridal dresses was Cicada- as I am always impressed by the beautiful dresses in their window. I was extremely disappointed to go in and discover the level of service was so poor. Despite having an appointment (and only one other patron in the store) I was virtually ignored and was not offered assistance once. When I didn't find a dress that I loved, I asked how frequently inventory changes. The staff member told me they only change twice a year! All the gowns at the time were very appropriate for a winter wedding with not one softer dress for a summer wedding. Considering the window changes weekly, I find it hard to believe they don't turn styles more frequently than that...

These are the most unique and beautiful dresses I have ever seen. I love to go to formal events like the ballet and such and I always find what I want here. If you want a dress that is not your run of the mill sight, this is the place for you. Parking can be a bit crazy. They do alterations and the staff are extremely helpful and courteous.
