After obtaining brake job quotes from D&D, Les Schwab, Midas, Goodyear, Sears, and a couple of local Issaquah shops, I decided to go with D&D as they were the only shop with seasoned/certified professionals (not a bunch of kids) and provided brake inspections and quotes at no cost. My 1986 GMC truck brakes were squeaking and knocking so on December 26, 2007, I took my truck in to D&D for an inspection. Larry, the head brake specialist, found that my front brake pad tabs needed to be bent (to secure them to the calipers) as they were loose and moving around. He said the rotors and pads were still good with about 60% materials left until they needed to be replaced. Additionally, the rear brake shoes needed to be adjusted to the drums as they were loose. He made the necessary adjustments to both sides and noted that there was about 70% materials left. The inspection and adjustments took about 30 minutes (with detailed explanations in layman's terms). My cost, $0 dollars. I was thoroughly impressed with Larry's professionalism, knowledge and patience, that I brought in my girlfriend's 1996 Toyota RAV about an hour later for a brake inspection. The RAV's breaks were squeaking really loudly so after a thorough cleaning and adjustment to the rear drums, the squeaking was gone. The RAV also had about 70% materials left on both the front and rear breaks so no additional work was needed. My cost for the service, again, $0 dollars. Again, thank you Larry for your honest and professional insights for both vehicles. When the time comes to do a brake job, my first choice will be D&D. I live in Sammamish but I'll drive to D&D in Seattle (Aurora Avenue) as it is extremely difficult to find a great automotive brake center on the Eastside. With more than 25 years in the business, D&D Brakes must be doing something right. Their prices are competitive (lower than majority) and come with a good warranty. I hope all who read this testimonial will find it useful. BTW - I have worked in the automotive industry for about five years so I know a little about brake servicing.

Before finding D&D on Judy's List for best brake repair, I took my Xterra to some other shops. One in Magnolia (Rick's) which told me the labor alone was going to be over $270, not including on the parts I needed which was a long list. The next was Affordable Tire & Brake on 15th Ave which was was worse. Not only did they add on extra fees b/c I have a 4 wheel drive, they tried to tell me I needed new shocks that I had "bottomed them out" and something absurd about gas leaking because of it? Then came the long list of parts. The total there was going to be close to $500. So, I have a $40 gift card to Bernie's Automotive in Ballard. So I thought I'd try them out. Not only did the guy want to charge me $40 to look at the brakes to tell me what I needed he told me without even looking at my brakes "we are much more expensive, but you get..." What? How is that suppose to good service?
Luckily, I went with my gut and found D&D. I called and spoke with the owner and he told me to bring it by before they close and he'd be happy to look at the Xterra for me. I got there, same day, met Larry and already had a better feeling about this place then the other 3. I waited a total of 15 minutes for Larry (the mechanic) to tell me what I needed. He also dispelled any notion of needing new shocks. I brought it back the next day b/c it was near closing and my brakes were done in about 1 hour. Not only did I get treated wonderfully by these 2 great guys, they were fair and honest. I saved about $200 going to them and I truly felt I got the best brake service in Seattle. For now on this is where I'll go for brakes and where I'll send anyone that asks. Thanks D&D!

I saved over $200.00 on my complete brake job from another quote!!! Everyone was friendly and the job was done very quickly. They even gave me the option to wait a few more thousand miles on the rear brakes (my call). Did not get that honest advice from the other shop. Honest service and competitive prices. Thanks D & D!!!
A very happy customer.... Laura D.

I saved $125(compare to a quote from Discovery's auto service in Bellevue). And they replaced my front break pads in 45 minutes.
