Half Price Books is crammed with books, calendars, CDs, DVDs, and computer games. The new books are at least half off the printed price, and you can often find even better deals in their front displays. They have books on pretty much every subject on their two floors. They also have a non-intimidating book buying process: you just leave your books with them, go look around the store for 10 minutes or so, and you come back and they tell you what they can take and how much they can pay you. Granted, they don't often offer very much for your books (10-20% of printed price), but I've found that they often take books that other stores won't touch.

This is the best idea since sliced bread! It is a bookstore that isn't snotty and doesn't cost your arm and leg! You pick up a book that may cost you up to five dollars, and then they will take it back and pay you for it when you are finished, if you want to give it back! I really enjoy the atmosphere in this bookstore, you can sit down and just chill or you can be in a hurry and go go go! The employees are helpful and a computer catalog helps them to find any book that you could need.

I wouldn't shop here for non fiction, but if your brain is tired and you are looking for some easy fiction to read on the plane this is the place for you. Science fiction, mystery, romance, regular fiction-they have it all. This bookstore also sells CD's, DVDS, tapes, and computer software. They have four locations (that I know of) in the Seattle area. This store sells used books so the prices are reasonable. I wouldn't sell books here though because they don't pay well. You are better off selling them on Amazon.com.

Seattle has some fantastic book options, like Elliot Bay, Bailey Coy and others. but sometimes a curious reader is just looking for a good deal on something new or different. Half-Priced books can be a good option in that situation. Books are always at least half their cover price and often less. They usually have a good selection of general fiction, popular fiction, cook books and poetry. They carry other genres and some computer software and games as well. One caveat- they tend to offer sellers very little when buying books from you.

They have a large inventory and you can make you very well if you are looking for much older books. Rarely are you going to find hot new books.
Basically the way it works it all of the books are half the price as marked on the original markings. So lets say you find an old John Irving book that sold for 2.00 originally you get it for a buck! Pretty good deal considering they probably have several prinitings to choose from and the price is right.
However when looking for newer books you are going to be really struggling..
I have gone there a couple times looking for kids books and have been unable to find much of anything regardless to the fact they have a ton of books.
