We took the locks cruise during sunset. Seeing the city as well as the mountains at twilight made it worth every penny (it is fairly expensive). This was a birthday gift so I guess its easy for me to say but I wouldn't regret paying for it. The trip was so romantic and beautiful.
The tour guides were pretty informative and the crew was friendly. I think its great for both tourists and locals. You learn a little bit of trivia and if you are new to the area a lot about the different neighborhoods of Seattle. It gives you a good sense of the city. But besides all that, its just fun to go out on a boat trip once in a while and see the salmon jump! :)

My family and I had a great time putting around Lake Union on one of these boats. Our friends invited us on a little boating expedition on Saturday and I'm so glad we went! It's a little like the jungle cruise ride at Disneyland but instead of looking at wild animals on your ride, you can get a birds eye view of your fellow Seattlelites flying kites at Gas Works, boating and the sea planes taking off. The kids loved it and I would definitely to do this again.

Sorensen Marine knows Tohatsu outboards! I have a 9.8HP 1 year old outboard that I thought had starter problems. As it turned out, it didn't, it was a battery issue. The Sorensens (father and son) worked fast to find out what the issue was and they didn't run the bill up like some auto dealers we all know. They are truly knowledgeable of the motor and can quickly scan the motor for external signs of proper set-up. Something that only comes from years of experience and knowledge. They also asked me questions about my application and showed me how my prop was the wrong pitch for my application. They didn't pressure me to change the prop, which I appreciated. I did take their recommendation and change the prop and now I have better performance and better mileage. The only negative is that parking is limited and it is somewhat hard to get into the lot going south because the entrance is only 50 feet past the intersection. I recommend entering the lot going north (shop is on the east side of the street) to make sure you don't have to cross traffic in a busy intersection.

More
Daly's Paint, in Wallingford or Bellevue, is a great place to get paint or stain. Their products are top quality, and it's not easy to find such knowledgeable service. They'll be able to help you custom match (even stain, which is no easy task) and adjust already mixed color if you need to.
We've bought stain for a deck and a fence there, and both held up admirably. If you are looking for paint, you can purchase 1' square samples (made with actual paint, not printed with ink) to see how it will really look in your home.
They also keep a record of everything you buy in their computer system, so if you need more you'll have access to the exact formula used the first time around.
There are only 2 drawbacks:
- Limited hours can make it difficult to get what you need to finish up a weekend project.
- Their personalized service takes time, so you may end up waiting a while in line while others are helped. They do have a number system, so you can browse while you wait.

Robin Daly has twice (two different houses) given me great advice on paint colors in my house, including taking me in colorful directions I would never have otherwise considered. Staff at the store are helpful, take the time to make sure you've got it right. Great place for getting the advice and supplies to transform your home.

I went to a 45th anniversary party on July 22nd and it was soooo wonderful! The Location was fabulous and the view of the city one of the best I've seen. I went to the buffet 3 times (not your normal buffet food) the cream cheese loaf thingy is to die for. I talked to the hosts daughter about the rental and she told how easy the caterers made everything for them and how nice and easy they were to work with. We actually sat out on the deck and watched the boats until long past the time supposed to be gone and everyone was so gracious and warm till the end.

Don't let the name fool you, it's more then just a bunch of rods, reels, and lures. This is probably the best place to go in Seattle if your looking for sailing gear. Blocks, cleats, rigging, and probably the best selection of lines in the area. There's also a good selection of foul weather gear. While the prices aren't anything spectacular they are certainly in line with other supply stores.

More
Bob Picot is a family-owned marine upholstery firm located on Boat Street in the University District. They specialize in weather-resistant fabric designs, including dodgers, boat covers and upholstery (they also make the tubular metal frames for dodgers, so if you need a full replacement they can do the whole thing.)
They've been in the same location forever, and have been in business since 1948, so they must do a pretty good job (they may well deserve a stronger rating than the 3 stars I assigned, but I haven't worked with them myself).
If you use them and like them, please write your own review so I know how it turned out.
