Always had the older parts available or can get it for me. I have much older bicycles where parts are somewhat hard to get. Staff seemed to be cordial and helpful.

I did finally hear back from Velo and although they didn't know the answer, they did give me suggestions that made it possible to find out the information I wanted. So I'm changing my review.

After visiting several Seattle bike shops just to find one that seemed both friendly and knowledgeable I discovered Velo.
This is a great place if you don't want to deal with the kind of bike snobs that seem to work in many of the high end (high priced) shops.
I have found the owner and staff at Velo to be extremely helpful and when I brought them my DeRosa, which I purchased on eBay, they did a thorough tune up and detailing which made it feel like a brand new bike...all at what I thought was a totally reasonable price.
I give this shop two thumbs, and two big toes, up!

I recently purchased a bike from Velo and the staff was great to work with. I worked in bikeshops for years and didn't really need ton of assistance but the great thing about Velo is that they picked up on that and were able to help me when I needed it. I was purchasing a bike that had been around for a couple of years and I'm sure they weren't making much money on it but they were still willing to take the time to swap out the handlebars for a set that was a bit wider. They were also very knowledgeable about the sizing of the bikes and didn't pressure me into their version of the perfect size, they actually took the time to help me measure a couple of bikes to make sure I was getting the best fit rather then just reading the size on the sticker. They even followed up with the thank you card that I just received in the mail, doesn't get much more personal than that! If you go ask to speak with Evan, he knows both the tech and the sizing and has their stock almost memorized!

I had gone to Velo Bike Shop when first making my fixed gear bike...7 days everyday for two weeks and they were there to answer all the stupid questions I had without getting mad. I love them.
Now they know me and I come back all the time and get the best service ever. Knowledgeable and friendly. If they don't have what you want...they'll order it for you. Great workers and owner! Highly would recommend to anyone!!

Velo is a good shop to handle your basic cycling needs. The don't have a large selection of items, whether it be bikes, components, clothing or parts, but the items they do have will take care of a lot of your needs. The staff is friendly and willing to discuss any bike questions you may have.
If you're looking for more high-end road bikes or components I would go elsewhere. Velo caters more towards the mid to lower range market. I was reminded of this recently when I went shopping for a new saddle. I ended up getting a Selle Italia Flite saddle which I was surprised Velo did not sell. Even though it is one of the most popular road bike saddles of all time.

My wife and I checked out Velo Bikes when we were trying to find her a decent, comfortable used bike to ride a mile and a half to work. Velo was probably the wrong store for that—they’ve been around forever and are apparently very well known and connected to the competitive cycling community here.
The salesperson was really helpful and friendly though, even though it became clear pretty fast that she and my wife weren’t talking about the same kind of bike (they sell a lot of composite-material Bianchis and such).
It was a good move to come that way though, because we found a classic Schwinn road bike in the basement of the Value Village next to Velo for $20. The salesperson from Velo saw us wheeling it by and came out to admire it, give us advice and sell us some replacement parts.
I’m almost ashamed to say that we took it to another shop closer to home for the needed repairs.

This is a bike store for hardcore enthusiasts, but they are still nice to you if you are a causal rider. The sales staff is very knowledgeable and will help you find the right back for your size and biking style. They will also share great places to ride. It’s a great place to shop because everyone there is so committed to biking and wants everyone to enjoy it as much as they do.
