So, based on Jill's reco here on JB I got an appt. with Eric at his salon, Sarantos. I have curly hair, and the last cut, which was so-so, was losing it. Whatever "it" is. Anyway, Eric listened, consulted and suggested a couple things to bring the 'do back into shape. He also had some ideas for something more drastic next time (it was a grey day and I was not exuding "let's chop it all off" vibes). Cut is great, salon is nice, doggie is cute and friendly, and parking is free. Salon does NOT have the pretentious attitude or blaring music that can be found elsewhere. Oh, and no snotty receptionists to deal with either. Location is at 96th and Roosevelt in Mapleleaf neighborhood. Phone number is: (206) 523-9266.

i've literally had more compliments on my hair during the past 5 days then in the past 5 years! and i blame eric sarantos. my last haircut was losing shape fast so i looked online, found the highly-recommended eric sarantos and he squeezed me in last minute. the dude is a genius with hair. he owns the shop and he's the only person who works there (except for maggie the dog, but she doesn't really work, it's more of a tail-wagging and sleeping job). the shop is small but not cramped, it's cute and comfy, and there's plenty of parking. compared to other shops his prices are on the average-high side, but worth every last penny. he's nice, friendly, and he just knows hair. he's studied with "the best of the best" and it shows. and seriously, i've gotten so many compliments from people over the past 5 days that i'm starting to feel like a walking billboard for eric's shop.

Go see Eric! He is a true genius of hair - I went from frumpy to georgous and I am amazed each time he cuts my hair how wonderful I can look! Eric Saranto owns and operates this salon. It is a small but air studio just off Roosevelt and you can park easily for free right in front of his studio. He is nice and always listens and is down to earth. No snotty attitude here. Sometimes, a great stylist get so egotistical and aloof - not Eric: he is talented and genuine and nice. Cuts are about $65 and he gives great color too. His small dog Maggie is there too, chilling out and looking cute.
