i first frequented diamond nails when lynne and nu first opened it in 2003. they were wonderful, professional, skilled women. the salon was friendly, clean, relaxing and affordable.
lynne and her husband have been sole owners for a while now. the place has disintegrated into an unclean, disgruntled, overcrowded salon chockfull of non-english speaking, uncaring, unskilled ,sloppy and slovenly harried workers. who cares if the prices are low if one ends up with broken, shredded nails, bloody cuticles, painted black hairs embedded in one's polish, surly treatment, destruction of shoes and clothing, and the feeling that fungal infection is highly probable?
i had two women in a row place metal three- legged stools directly on top of my 400.00 stuart weitzman jewel- studded sandals- even sitting on top of the stool! it was unbelievable to ask them once not to do that; but to see another woman come over and plunk down the stool and sit on it a second time, breaking one of the crystals in the sandal was just ridiculous.
to make matters worse, the same manicurist grabbed my upper arm with a palmful of greasy lotion- i was wearing a silk max mara blouse from the spring runway collection- did that woman have the means to purchase another for 500.00- i think not.
my husband has experienced his suit coat being tossed on the floor and trampled by those same stools.
he told me the workers were so uncaring and sloppy that he did not want to go to diamond nails anymore.
and, why have they done away with the courtesy paper flip-flops- inching all the way across the wet, slimy floor invisioning all the gunk tracked in from the street coating my feet was disgusting.
lynne offered to comp. my services and pay for the dry-cleaning of my blouse- but nothing can compensate for the pathetic decline of service, attitude, skill and hygiene at diamond nails.

I was told about Diamond Nails by a friend who learned of it from a friend of hers, and since I started going there, I've referred about 10 girlfriends of my own. The pedicures are cheaper than anywhere else I've seen, and they have all the ingredients of a successful guilty pleasure: massage chairs, gossip magazines, gentle aestheticians, and E! on the overhead TV. Make a reservation if you're planning on going after work; they get busy in the evenings.
