Ah, the Knarr Shipwreck Lounge. There's nowhere like it. The first time I walked in I was pretty confident someone might throw a glass bottle at my head, so it was an instant favorite. It's amazing.
It's run down, kind of smelly and has a lot of old regulars that creep me out; these combinations made it my favorite college bar. I don't think they have any top shelf alcohol, but they DO have shuffleboard. God, I love it.

My friends and I walk down to Conor Byrne's once every 3-4 weeks, and have a great time. The alcohol is affordable, there is typically some good live music and the crowd is very laid back and pleasant. No hard alcohol, which is lame, but you can go next door for shots. The beer/wine are great though.

Excited about this new pub. Excellent food--had the mussels, hummus and pitas, and steak sandwich today. Just a really nice restaurant in the usually dormant area around the stadium. A lot bigger than I imagined too. Not to mention the fancy pants restrooms. Highly recommended, good for small or large parties.

I have always enjoyed this bar, but the reason it gets perfect in my book is that its close to home, has a great jukebox, and plenty of seating.
If I had to pick a downside to it, it's their selection of beer and the music is a bit loud at times. But, my top 3 reasons trump that, and I enjoy the dark, smoky atmosphere and the general lack of pretentiousness.
Also, they do serve your standard fried food until approximately 9 or 10...I never can remember...maybe it's later.

The first time I went to the Galway Arms, my friend and I ordered six different drinks and sat down to drink them one by one while an Irish band played in the corner. The ambience was terrific - good drinks, good vibes, small pub, Irish music. The second time, the bartender gave me and my two friends each a free shot of his favorite drink. I quite frankly cannot remember what the drink was, but it was delicious. On later visits, I've sampled the food (chips, excellent, hummus plate, excellent) and the service has continued to be terrific. They always seem to make mixed drinks strong, so it's a good value for your money. I've also heard great things about the happy hour at the Galway, although I've never been there during that time. Don't even bother with the Irish Emigrant across the street - this is an Irish pub that knows what it's doing.

Molly Maguires is a nice, comfortable, neighborhood Irish bar. The staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is very laid back. The patrons are very friendly, regular people. You can strike up a conversation easily, or you can be quietly left alone to read or watch sports on the bar tv. The menu is good and the beer selection is varied. They also serve liquor and wine. The owner dishes up a free spread of tasty stew and other hearty eats every Saturday when an Irish music session also takes place. There is usually a solo act or group playing music on weekend nights. Thursday nights are all about the karaoke. There's one pool table and the pool is free on Sundays. This bar is really a great place to chill out, eat, drink, and get together with friends.

Totally understand the kid-free thing. The Ravenna Tavern is great. Chill, neighbourhood dive on 65th st & Ravenna. Crowd seems to be a mix of 20s-40s with some grizzly regulars as well.
They've got a good pool table and bartenders pour a good stiff drink.
Good social crowd. I'll be back there soon.
