Grab a drink before a Mariners game 9/19/2005

I have only gone to this bar on the way to the see Mariners games. Every time I do so, I end up staying in the bar and watching the game on TV, then end up stumbling into the game in the 4th or 5th inning. This bar is small and can get crowded before games. Also, the cheap drinks ($2 Rainer) are enticing. more

A good hang out 8/17/2005

The Scene Triangle Pub is a historical landmark--it's got the National Park Service plaque and the layer of grime to prove it. Built in 1910 as a hotel and bar, the building's been through several incarnations, but has served as the Triangle since 1981. Besides being old, it's also notable for its diminutive size. There's only room for three small tables and a row of stools. A mix of white- and blue-collar workers--with a sprinkling of the neighborhood's hard-luck boozers--sit elbow-to-elbow. The Draw At one point, the building reportedly served as a brothel, yet there's nothing remotely sexy about the place at present. It is, however, a fine spot to grab a beer after work or before a Mariners or Seahawks game. Sports are also the primary television fare, and the boisterous, mostly male, crowd almost feels like they've all front row seats at the stadium. more

Decent place for a post-game drink 6/19/2005

The Triangle Pub is just a short walk from Safeco Field. This is one of its best qualities. The bar itself is in the point of a building on first and is so aptly named. What could have been a cozy atmosphere though instead simply feels cramped. This is mitigated some by the small outside area. They have an average selection of drinks and food. If you're in the area, especially after a Mariner's or Seahawks game, then check it out. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend the effort getting to it. more
