My husband and I stopped by Murphy's for the first time on Saturday night. Despite the fact that it was quite busy, we were able to find a nice table and were served quickly. The waitress was very nice and attentive, always refilling my drink and asking if she could get us anything else.
They had an eclectic beer selection, which my husband really appreciated. The appetizer selection was good, a little off-beat and different which was refreshing. We stuck with something safe: chips, salsa and guac. It was excellent.
Prices were reasonable, we'll definitely be back.

Not so much an Irish Pub as it is a college/sports bar with a thin veneer of Irishness plastered over it. Murphy’s has no atmosphere, and is the kind of place where they serve your drink in a plastic cup, yet it has none of the qualities of a satisfying dive bar.

This is a good place to go with a large group of people since the interior is very open and you can pull a bunch of tables together pretty easily. The bar itself is ok - nothing too special. It doesn't have all that much character, but it's a decent bar. On trivia night it gets really crowded, so beware.

There is nothing spectacular nor overly negative with Murphy's. Their interior is 100% Irish Pub, although not nearly as dark as many pubs.
They have a number of TVs that show whatever sport games are on. They have a pair of dart boards, although the darts are in pretty poor condition. It draws a slightly cleaner crowd than the Dubliner, another nearby Irish bar.
I haven't tried their 'real food', only the appetizers which were passable.

We decided to check out Murphy's, since we would no longer be choking from cig smoke. They've always been able to pour a great Guinness...the problem is the food. One person in our party ordered a Reuben. There were 2...count them...two, thin pieces of corned beef on the sandwich. Completely lame for, a: a Reuben, and b: for around $9. The fries were completely soggy. You might expect that to be the case late at night, as Murphy's has never been too hip at hot oil, but this was at 6:00. We won't go back. When you have indifferent food, and sullen management, who needs to go, when you have other businesses, such as Bad Albert's in old Ballard with great food, and a very friendly atmosphere.

Murphys is one of the larger Irish pubs in town. The menu is pretty much the same as any other pub but the service is good and there's always an open table. If you're in the wallingford area and just feel like having some food and a quick drink, or just want to read the papaer and kill some time murphys is a good choice. of course since its a pub theres almost always a game on and its probbaly too loud to relax as you get into the night

My friends and I frequent Murphy's on many a Monday night, and it is always a good time. They have a good special on Irish Whiskey and usually have good prices on their local microbrew pitchers. The atmosphere is great for a large or small group, and there is usually plenty of seating. Stop in and have a Guiness or Car Bomb if you are in Ballard sometime.

often i refer to the food served at bars as barf-ood. murphy's is above that and has great burgers and fries and yummy dark beers on tap. i especially like the secret garden burger with is served with a yummy chutney on it. it is a darkish irish pub that sometimes attracts a UW crowd but mostly it's neighbors. they used to have a trivia night (and might still) and on the weekends they have live music that is usually folk or irish but lends itself well to the atmosphere. there is a dartboard and a fireplace with cozy leather chairs.
