That doesn't mean the drink specials go all day, but there is something to love at any time in this great post-work drinking spot (and I don't just mean the cute waiters). Their appetizers are generally good for two people and are always delish, and the drinks are tasty. Best of all, it's on the smallish side, so it feels intimate, though you could gather 8 people at the big tables comfortably. They open the big windows in the front on warm days, lending the place that al fresco feel. I must say I often rely on the promise of a drink at Kai's to keep me plugging away at my 8-5 job.

Don't go to the Pyramid because you want a 5 star dining experience, go because it's a glorious summer evening in Seattle and you feel like kicking back with a good beer and some delicious pub grub. They have excellent beer battered fish and chips and yummy french fries with the skins on. I second the recommendation of the apricot ale, though just uttering the words makes my husband shudder.
Beware: This place is a zoo on Mariner's game nights!

The non-smoking aspect of the bar was enough to sell me on it. But, they also have the game Operation! Always a good time. There should be more smoke free bars in Seattle. The smokers don't mind stepping outside for their fix.
Pros: smoke-free, good beers, games
Cons: small

If you're looking for a beautiful and luxurious 5-star hotel in the Seattle area, look no further than the Fairmont. Not only is it full of rich local history, but it is truely beautiful and peaceful. The tearoom is amazing, the service is divine, and the shops located in the hotel are worldclass. If you can afford this grand hotel, it's well worth the visit.
PROS: beautiful, peaceful, great food, excellent service
CONS: expensive

I was thirsty one night, so I stopped into the establishment to get myself a brew. When I walked in, there was a Rock Band video game set up. Tristen (the fellah who's in charge) told me to pick up a guitar. After playing it once, that was it... I was hooked!
It didn't matter if I was a beginning strummer or a master shredder, all I wanted to do was go back and play with the band! And since there were 4 instruments to choose from, the rotation went by faster, which meant more chances to play a song or ten.
I highly recommend this spot over any location in Seattle. The atmosphere is great. The people are fantastic. The beer was cold. What more can you ask for a Tuesday night??
Pros: Rock Out with a beer in hand!
Cons: Cramped fingers and hoarse voices

If you want a bar where you can relax with your friends and just chill with some good pub grub, this is the spot. Has mellowed out through the years...not as crowded or trendy as it was 5 or 6 years ago. Great menu, serve food later, better service at night vs. day time. Old pool tables, but they're cheap. Great juke box. Lots of dart boards and fun games.
Pros: Cheap, strong drinks, good menu and food
Cons: What is up with the daytime bartender? No service at all?

This is a lovely, very laid-back and fun place to hang out. There are lots of seats so it's usually no problem finding a table. They also serve tasty pub food. The macaroni and cheese is especially good! You get a good mix of people and will even find some willing to strike up a conversation, which is a nice surprise in a Seattle bar! The waitstaff and guy checking IDs at the door are all friendly and professional. Probably my favorite bar in Ballard! No pretentions, just fun times.

What a great atmosphere! We were wandering aimlessly through Pike Place Market at night and were drawn to this little red door that leads to the White Horse Trading Co. Inside we found a charming, much overlooked hole-in-the-wall wine bar. It was apparent that most of the patrons there were regulars as they were obviously on good terms with the bartender. The menu consisted of a few choice wines and a few beers, each which they rotate as they open a new bottle/case. It is made to look like a traditional English library, lined with bookshelves that are lined to the ceiling with worn, hardcover books. Definitely a great find!
