Maybe I'm a traditionalist.....I don't know. I used to go to the Ram during recruiting visits in January (yes, I was a Husky Hostess, the President even). I liked their big room...

Good kid place 5/4/2006

It has big booths, a kids menu, and it's loud enough that they don't have to be on their absolute best behavior. So, we eat here a lot. :) I think the food is a step up from Red Robin but not a big giant step. My favorite thing to order is the french dip. Yummmm!!! It has VERY lean roast beef which so you don't have to open it up and pick the meat all apart. Um, not that I know anyone who would do that... more

Onions at the Ram 4/14/2006

The onion ring stack at the Ram is one of the best grease infused snacks I have ever had. It is a perfect combination of grease and onion. The Ram also has daily specials that include free meals for kids on mondays and all you can eat fish and chips on thursdays. Overall, the menu is full of grease and is not the best place to eat if you are a vegetarian. This place is a brew house but in microbrewery laden Seattle the beer, in my humble opinion is not so great. Prices average 10 to 15 a person and there is outdoor seating at the University Village branch. more

I miss the Ram the old way 3/21/2006

Maybe I'm a traditionalist.....I don't know. I used to go to the Ram during recruiting visits in January (yes, I was a Husky Hostess, the President even). I liked their big rooms in the back for larger parties, and I liked the quaint bar. Good decent burgers too. Now it's just HUGE and it seems that the service and the quality have gone down hill. It's a trendy restaurant now in a trendy U Village. Their beer ain't that great. Maybe I just miss Ernst and the old bowling alley more! more

Great food, but man is the bar busy! 3/14/2006

If you are hoping to get one of the coveted seats in the bar, get there early and steak your claim. The fraternity and sorority kids from UW come down in hoards, taking over the entire bar. The food is great, but don't count on great service. Especially in the bar, it's not uncommon to wait twenty minutes for a glass of water or napkin. more

Decent steakhouse 3/12/2006

The Ram strikes me as a classic steakhouse, with a variety of dishes incorporating meat and seafood. This place is often very busy; if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night, or with a large group, make sure you have reservations. Vegetarians should avoid The Ram; the last time I looked at their menu, I couldn't find a single vegetarian dish. I have particularly enjoyed their fries and the chicken caesar salad in the past. more

Active Sports hangout with good happy hour 11/17/2005

I enjoy watching sporting events at the Ram, although it can definitely be a madhouse during any UW game (part of the fun). They also have a really good happy hour depending on when you are there. What better place to watch NCAA basketball than a place largely frequented by avid UW fans? Oh, did I mention they brew their own beer? Good stuff. more

College Life 10/19/2005

A great brewery to go to if you like college sports. That atmosphere is new age pub. It is filled with classy sport memorabilia, including a UW rowing shell hanging from the ceiling. The burgers are good, however, expect to leave feeling a little stuffed. The sizzling bread pudding dessert is one of the finest. A few burned tongues though, due to the rush to eat it up quick. more

Great Sports Viewing, Good Food 9/29/2005

4 stars for the overall experience - it's good bar food w/a great variety (I love the U-dub Dunker - kind of a combo burger/French dip), good hand-crafted Micros on tap (although it is a brewery so your options of other great beers on tap aren't there) and TV's throughout the bar and the restaurant including a massive screen right behind the bar. Come before a Husky game to watch the 9am games, have the breakfast buffet and maybe a Bloody Mary or a beer. It gets crowded early (booths go fast in the bar), but there's usually room in the restaurant and you can see plenty of other games there too. On game days it's usually a pretty mixed crowd, but as you might expect, is a little younger in the bar. I'd recommend against leaving your car there if you're going to the game. I know a couple people who have been towed. more

great deals 9/9/2005

The Ram is a great restaurant even if you don't dig beer. The food is awesome- amazing steak, sandwiches, burgers, appetizers- my favorite is the crab and artichoke sandwich that melts in your mouth. The atmosphere is a little loud and crowded, but in a good way. The wait staff are super and the wait was short. Worth the time if you want some good bar food even without the alcohol. more

A little overhyped, but still very good 9/4/2005

The Ram Resturant offers good food with a casual atmosphere. Their burgers are pretty good, but honestly not worth the full price they're asking for. The steaks aren't THAT good. The salads are decent. What is good is the beer :) Located in the heart of the University Village the RAM is divided in a dining area and a bar in the rear. If you're a college student or just a bargin shopper, drop in Sunday after 10:30 for happy hour...1/2 ALL menu items and great deals on booze. more

Everything from family friendly, senior friendly, to drunken beginnings of 21 runs! 8/31/2005

A great sports bar atmosphere to enjoy the company of your family, friends, or the drunken fraternity boy! The service is USUALLY good, however some of the servers are not the brightest crayons in the box and it can take them awhile to get to you! Enjoy birthday parties and events by using the room towards the back. The RAM also offers a bar in the very back where you can enjoy appetizers and the Big Horn Ale. Try everything from burgers and sandwiches to fantastic appetizers (quesadillas, lettuce wraps) and pastas and salads! The perfect place for any age! more

Hang out and watch the game 8/26/2005

The Ram Restaurant offers a suprisingly wide variety of food for a "sports bar" restaurant. Yes, there's the usual burgers and sandwiches, but you'll also find pastas, salads, steaks, salmon... A plethora of TVs provide sports viewing from nearly every side of every table. Still, if you didn't come to watch the game, the TVs are not intrusive. With big booths (as well as tables) and usually good table service, the Ram appeals to families and early-bird seniors along with the expected college students and U-Village shoppers. The back part of the building houses the smoky bar which has a multi-paneled TV that take up one wall. more

Great for Watching Sports 7/21/2005

The Ram in U-Village is a great place to go to watch sports. I have gone down several times with co-workers to watch the Tour for lunch, and even though it isn't on the big screen, the watiresses are more than happy to change the station for you...Its also a great place to watch Husky sports, but be aware that this place fills up quick for high profile events. Sunday nights are great here - they have a special where everything is half price from 10pm-midnight, and they serve from their full dinner menu until 11. Food is pretty good, and they definitely have a wide variety to chose from. Try out items off their summer menu - the fillet mignon sandwich is fabulous! If you aren't up for the noise during sporting events, you can head over to the restaurant and enjoy the menu from there! more

Fantastic happy hour in the heart of the U-District 7/21/2005

The Ram has a great late-night happy hour that's available in the bar all day on Sundays. The food is great and there's a lot to choose from (primarily burgers, but many varieties). They brew their own (excellent) beer on the premise. It's a loud, family-friendly place with a really nice bar that's usually packed with UW students. It gets crowded on weekend evenings but it's tame most other times. more

1/2 Price Sunday Night Menu at the Ram 5/25/2005

Most U-dubbers already know that Sunday night at the Ram is half price. If you're up for slow service and long wait time for a table, this is the place for you. Even though the restaurant staff is overwhelmed the entire night, it is a fun atmosphere in the bar and who can complain about half price. Don't be afraid to order two drinks at a time, etc. It is amazing what you can justify when your money goes twice as far. more
