Dave, the proprietor, keeps you engaged as he cuts your hair. The cut is good, doesn't take much time and the price is right. And on the days you don't feel like talking, he respects that (unlike other barbers I've seen that can't stop talking).
I wish the timings were better though - they're not open on Sundays and they open at 10am on Saturdays, which is quite late. I end up going elsewhere because I want an early start on the day.
Overall, if you're in belltown and need a quick, no-hassles haircut, Belltown Barber is the place to go.

It's barbers truly know hair and can give your guy exactly what he's looking for, wether it's a classic buzz cut, or the current trend, these guys are the barbershop kings of Queen Anne. More
Thomas and Miguel have got the half-art, half-science of hair down cold. Thomas sculpts designs in people's hair that practically qualify as display pieces for one of the nearby art galleries. Miguel describes his chair as the "computers and politics" chair, and neither the conversation nor the haircut ever disappoints.
These fellows have a world of experience from the actual world, as well as being experienced haircutters. It's kind of like having two energetic, engaging reference librarians, but with scissors. Both men are involved in the community and devote an unusual amount of their time and talent to various worthy endeavors, when they're not tending to business in the barbershop.
It's rare to find a modern-day business that has heart and soul as well as a good product. This one qualifies on all counts.
Enough of the word has gotten out about them that attempts at walk-in haircuts are unwise. Do the smart thing; pick up the phone and call for an appointment.

I love Todd, he's a great hair stylist and I've never been disappointed. I always walk out of his place with fantastic hair at a price I can still work into my tight budget. He doesn't pressure you into buying products and doesn't judge if you walk in and it's been a little too long since your last cut. The location is easily accessible in Wallingford on 45th close to the 44 bus stop. I love this place and highly recommend it.

I have been getting my hair cut at Follicle for almost 8 years now. Patricia, the owner and main (only?) stylist, plays soothing latin pop on her stereo, has a great chair-side manner, and always takes the time to give a great cut -- even though as the years go by my receding hair line hardly merits the extra attention.
Her hours are not necessarily predictable and easy street parking isn't always guaranteed, but I find that I can usually fit an impromptu walk-in into my schedule on a given day as I'm running errands. If I desperatey need a cut and for some reason Follicle is not open or Patricia's waiting line is too long, I will grudgingly settle for Rudy's or some other noggin-hack-shop on the Hill. But Follicle is always my first choice.

I've been a client of Chamaine's for 8 years and I would never go anywhere else for a cut and color! She does a wonderful job and doesn't "tsk-tsk" me when it takes me six months to make it back to the salon to get a hair cut.

James Alan Salon, in Shoreline, is a neighborhood gem. I was bouncing around from salon to salon but never found the right place to get my hair cut until I started going to James Alan over a year ago. I enjoy a good hair cut, but have very low-maintenance hair and sometimes that throws stylists off. They want to put 'product' in my hair or blow it out in some wacked-out fashion. Not only does the staff at James Alan give superb hair cuts, they actually listen. I've never left feeling as if I got a cut that I didn't like or want. (Ask for Christina!). They also offer spa services--I've had a pedicure. The staff seem genuinely happy and I think that comes from how they are treated as employees. I know the owners are highly involved in the community and it seems that employees are encouraged to do the same. It feels good to support a business that tries to create a healthy work environment for their employees.

More
I wandered into Jim's one afternoon to get a simple hair cut in preparation for a business trip I had the upcoming Thursday. Jim's looked appealing since it had that old style barber shop look and feel (one of the few barber shops with the rotating swirly thing outside the door).
I was helped immediately since there was no one else in the shop. I briefly described the hair cut I wanted and the barber quickly went to work.
Usually when you get your hair cut you are sitting in front of a mirror. Jim's has mirrors but for some odd reason I was facing the other way. I was kind of freaked out by not seeing what he was doing and seeing piles of hair violently dropping to the floor. I then relaxed and enjoyed some idle conversation trusting that this man was a professional and he knew what he was doing. I have straight black hair and most barbers that do not have a skilled hand with the clippers can become overzealous and the results can be very noticeable.
After 10 min of clipping and cutting, I was released from the chair to find out that my hair was cut exactly as I wanted it.
Not a bad deal for a $13 hair cut.
