what they are especially good at is those little things other barbers never seem to fix; my boyfriend complained that there was one area of his head where the hair always ended up being longer and sticking out in an annoying way. the first time he got his hair cut at valentine's, valentine explained why this was (something about the shape of his head) and then went on to make adjustments to the cut so that the hair wasn't longer there.
the space is really nice and comfortable and they offer you coffee as soon as you get in. parking can be difficult sometimes, but is way better than capitol hill or downtown. (and whoever thinks Greenwood is a "violent area" is crazy and sounds like they have a personal bone to pick.)
oh yeah, another thing most men don't get to experience but all love when they do, is the scalp massage (and don't worry, it is a girl that does it!) places like gene juarez charge twice as much for stylists who are not as well trained (especially in men's hair). i highly recommend you give it a try.

One of the best haircuts I had ever received. I love the blue room, the staff, and the customer service. (Always a big plus.) They seem genuine in there approach. This shop has a very relaxing ambiance about it, they truly made me feel welcome. I was amazed when they said they have been there for 13 years, and of course I just found out about it.

I travel 3 days a week for my job, I am always on the go, so I have been to many salons. I don't get much time to sit still, let alone to get a haircut. I heard about Valentine's from Citysearch, so I made the appointment for the weekend. Upon arrival I was amazed with the customer service. The cut was one of the best I have ever had! I will now make a point to return to Valentine's, this place is wonderful and the staff is enjoyable and that is rare these days...
Sincerely,
W. Brown

I have been hearing about this place for years now, I just happened to drive by so I stop in an made an appointment. Now I have curly hair so most places do O.K. however I have never been truly satisfied. I have now been blessed by the "BEST" in the city, I thought I was going to be pushed in and out like most salons and not listen, they did really listen to me about what problems I have been having with my hair. I sat in a leather club chair as they were cutting the hair, I was served one of the best caramel latte I have had in quite so time, I was given a hand massage during the cut as well. When Valentine the master stylist was finished a lovely young lady took me in to the shampoo room for a rinse and a scalp massage she then styled my hair and informed me of a different way of styling to enhance my curls instead of trying to hide them. I look forward to seeing everyone soon and I thank you again Valentine, for such a incredible experience!

MY BOYFRIEND AND I HAVE BEEN TESTING ALL SALONS IN SEATTLE AND WE WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT VALENTINES IS THE WORST. SCHEDULE IS WAY OFF AND THERE WAS NO BODY IN THERE . NO PARKING. NO EMPLOYEES. VIOLENT AREA. UN SANITARY. HE DOESN'T CLEAN ANY OF HIS TOOLS. HE YELLS AT HIS EMPLOYEES AND IS RUDE. IT'S AN OKAY LOOKING PLACE WITH A GHETTONESS HOMIE TALK ATMOSPHERE SO THE PLACE ACTUALLY FOOLS YOU FROM OUTSIDE. IT WAS NO DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER BARBER SHOP THAT CHARGES 9.99 WITH NO SHAMPOO. I DON'T SUGGEST A BIG FUSS. THE BEST BARBER SHOP WE HAVE BEEN TO IS THE GENE JUAREZ ONE AND VALENTINE'S IS ANOTHER HOLE IN THE WALL SALON. I DO NOT SUGGEST IT TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU LIVE ACROSS THE STREET BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE NO WAY YOU CAN FIND PARKING AND AFTER BEING LATE SOME BROWN HAIR KRACK SMOKING RECEPTIONIST SAYS SORRY YOU HAVE TO RESCHEDULE BECAUSE THE OWNER IS RUNNING BEHIND LATE. FROM HOW THE OWNER ACTS HE SHOULD BE CUTTING HAIR FROM HIS GARAGE BECAUSE NO ONE IS GOING TO COME HERE ANY LONGER. I HATE THIS PLACE AND I AM OUTRAGED BY ALL THE REVIEWS IT GETS. DO PEOPLE GET PAID TO SAY THESE THINGS? I AM NOT WASTING MY TIME ANY LONGER. IF YOU WILL COME IN (WHICH I SUGGEST YOU DONT IF YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR MONEY'S WORTH) PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND WALK RIGHT BACK OUT BEFORE I READ YOUR REVIEW ON HERE ABOUT THE SALON. TWO THUMBS DOWN!
