I was a Honey Bear fan way back when they were near Green Lake. Used to get up early and trek there from my old Capitol Hill apartment to get warm pumpkin muffins. Then they closed. And I was sad.
A few years ago the Honey Bear re-opened in Third Place Book at Ravenna. Great space. Same great food.
My wire and I are pumpkin muffin fans. I sometimes throw in a currant scone for variety. My boys love the cinnamon rolls, with icing of course.
They've got just enough seating, particularly if you go earlier. Once it gets crowded the protocol is to grab empty chairs at the bigger tables, which means you get to meet new people. Oh, and they started offering wi-fi a while back, which is a mixed blessing (you can work, but seating doesn't turn over as fast).

Watch for this historical café to change for the better. The new owners plan for fresh new menu offerings. Staff changes are being made to improve service. Small touches like fresh flowers daily on each table, outdoor tables when weather permits, new dinner hours and menu, increased bar facilities and an overall new, cozy feeling.
Jennifer, the coffee Barista is fantastic. Beautiful, friendly and can she make an awesome coffee drink. I love coming in early morning for a quiet cup and pleasant conversation, read the newspaper and get my thoughts together before heading off to work. After a busy day I sometimes stop by for a nice glass of wine and people watching. Very interesting corner. Keep up the good work new owners. I'm looking forward to watching this wonderful old café morph.

This place is for the people who are serious about their tea. They have a wide selection of loose tea from around the world, as well as a section of tea gadgets and accoutrements. It's in a series of quaint shops in Pike Place Market that I like to hit when playing tour guide for friends from out of town. They have a bunch of specialty teas that can be a real treat, but also really expensive for your average cup of tea. For this reason I think it serves as a great stop for gift shopping (assuming you're buying for someone who likes tea).

I am surprised by the size of the store front. Plenty of seating. Lots of room and in the summer, they open up the windows so it's kind of like indoor patio. Very nice to be sipping coffee and watching people walk by. Free wifi. They take Visa/Master, even though they don't advertise it at the door.

I keep trying other coffees, thinking they'll take the hint, but nobody can touch the fresheness, roast or espresso preparation of LHR.
Boomaye, Lighthouse. Boomaye!

This place is fantastic! They have a little satellite stand in the atrium under the Rainier Tower and I am a devout customer (along with my entire office). I never knew I liked mochas...the ones I have tried have been syrupy and bitter, so I stuck with flavored lattes. But the Dilettante changed all that. They use real molten chocolate and they have several different types, ranging from extra-dark (70-something percent) to the creamy perfection of milk and white chocolate. It really is unlike any other espresso drink out there and a MUST if you are a chocolate fan. Just make sure they make it hot enough...their baristas are careful not to burn you, so the drinks can be a bit cooler than I'm used to.
