I live in the neighborhood, so I'm a little biased, but I can honestly say that the wi-fi's fantastic (and free), coffee's yummy and the cupcakes are divine (I just had a carrot cake cupcake and raved about it to my wife).
Everyone who I've taken there seems to love it as well -- hope to see you in Madrona soon!

First - The lunch special is the best deal in town for the money. A big baguette sandwich (pate, tuna, camembert, turkey&swiss, etc...), one of their over the top delicious pastries and any drink (tart and sweet lemonade, real apple juice, americano, whatever...) and I think the price is still just over $7 with tax and tip. I used to frequently drive from Bellevue for this lunch because I was in love (with the food).
Second - While in France I tried to like the pastries there but nothing topped Le Fournil.

I didn't realize how popular this place was until I start coming here for meetings. Lots of people in this area stop by here for cup of joe and lunch food during lunch. Their coffee is very dark roasted and flavorful. Service isn't as fast as starbucks, but you get the attention to detail. I had ordered a bagel toasted with butter, but I got an untoasted bagel with block of butter :(. Though their lunch sandwiches looked yummy but too bad I didn't see the menu until after I ordered. Lots of seating area, and quick turn around of customers so haven't had to wait yet. I'd say this is probably one of the best coffee shops in Pioneer Sq area!

this is one of the coolest coffee house in the city. it is two stories, and i always sit upstairs, where you can see everything going on below, yet have a bit more privacy. theres plenty of reading and conversation going on, perfect balance of background noise and quiet. coffee is delicious, also outside seating, in case the sun actually decides to come out!

I have been coming here for over a year and have to say that it is the best bakery in the seattle area. Warm and helpful staff serving some great muffins and other breakfast treats. Am told it is all made from scratch and it shows. The price is also very good for the quality of there baked goods. Try the homemade granola and totally out of this worl bread. Our family loves the whole wheat bread and buy it at least twice a week. Hope that the word gets around---everyone should know about this bakery!
Pros: value, great bread, quality food

This is the original, Capitol Hill Top Pot - hidden in a residential neighborhood - difficult parking and all. The place has a wonderful ambiance with stacks of books and wood panels and all. Plus the old-fashioned donut is worth the fat and carbs! Coffee is good too.
Only thing: service is a wee bit chilly unless you are a very handsome construction worker, in which case the pierced gal behind the counter will be very nice!

If you like bagels even remotely, you need to try Noah's Bagels. I've only found one in Seattle,so far, which is the one in the U Village. But it is so worth it to keep looking.
These guys are all over where I am from in Cali, and I thought they would long be a thing of the past. But there's hope.
If you're lucky, you'll come when the bagels are warm and soft out of the oven. They even smell better then. But they are great anytime you get them. I can't even describe what it is about a Noah's Bagel that makes it so above and beyond any of their competitors. Just try it out.
Alex likes to have his with the veggie schmear, but my favorite is salmon. They don't have Asiago bagels at the one in U-Village, it's not kosher. But if you ever find a non-kosher Noah's, but sure to check it out.

I drive over 20 miles to get my bagels from Bagel Oasis, bypassing several Noah's and other bagel shops. And they are worth every extra mile and minute. Raised in the east they are the closest thing to a New York Bagel. Thanks.

I love the Three Girls Bakery and as I work around the corner from the market, I find my way here often for lunch. They make great sandwiches on their fresh baked bread or a bagel. Their soups are also tasty and feel SO good on a dreary Seattle day. The service at the walk-up counter is friendly and quick - I often end up taking a loaf of bread home too. The kalamata olive loaf is especially tasty.
