This small, unassuming bakery tucked away in the Seahurst neighborhood of Burien is well worth a visit, but call ahead for hours.
They serve a great mix of organic foods, from to die-for pastries to yummy lunch items.
Somewhat small, it can get a little crowed during lunch and on Saturdays.
I've heard they serve an *excellent* breakfast BUT they are closed on Sundays...
Another plus is that the bakery is across the street from the baby consignment store Lollipops...

For a beautiful view of Lake Washington, try Bluewater Bistro. A casual chain with locations on Lake Union, Leschi, Belltown and Green Lake. My favorite is the Leschi location tucked away in the marina- which has a relaxed setting and an amzing view. Parking is plentiful and there is a public beach just a few blocks away which has a lifeguard on duty during the summer. The cocktail list is wonderful and the food is good- seafood, burgers etc... Note they are not open on weekdays for lunch.

This coffee shop offers up drinks, homemade sandwiches, pastries and cupcakes. Verite is cupcake crazy and if you like cupcakes, its a must-try. I don't really care for cupcakes and I think Verite cupcakes are over-rated, quite dry on several occassions.
The coffee is top-notch as are the baristas..mostly. The one/two year-old shop is well-lite with natural light. And there are plenty of tables and outlets. The wi-fi service is quite fast and reliable.

Two Tartes does a great job of filling a niche in Georgetown.
I've been looking for a place in South Seattle where I could get coffee, some real lunch food and munchies for my sweet tooth (not Starbucks!) that wasn't too far off the beaten path. If there's a place like Cheer's where everybody knows your name, and this is it, though I haven't been in often enough.
My favorite is the curried chicken. It's best on ciabatta bread/bollo, but grab a few extra napkins and a fork 'cause you'll need them. It's very messy on the go.
I also love the brownies- choc. and caramel or toffee- rich and gooey. They easily weigh 6 oz. or more, and they are definately worth the price. Just don't try to eat a whole one in one sitting.
I wouldn't add a side of fruit, it's overpriced, ditto with the boxed lunch, but it's all very tasty.

The cakes from Cake House are lighter, fluffier, and not as sweet as our regular cake, the frosting is so light it almost taste like whipped cream. They also have a wide variety of cakes to choose from, which includes mango, taro, black forest, fresh fruits, and napolitan, (just to name a few.) In addition to delicious cakes, they also have yummy pastries filled with coconut cream, ham and egg, and curry beef.

My experience over eight years of going here is that the sandwiches are good, the pies are great, and the cakes are *awful.* We got pies to go for our wedding rehearsal dinner (a barbecue) and they were just unbelievable--big, sweet berries, flaky crust, everything you ever wanted in a pie. So a year or two later, I went there to get my husband's 39th birthday cake, a carrot cake. It was beautifully decorated, looked scrumptious--and was oily and tasteless. For some reason, they don't (or didn't, anyway) use cream cheese frosting on their carrot cakes (I mean, what other kind is there???). We ate a few bites of it and tossed the rest. Yet I can't totally hold it against them--it's a nice place to hang if you're at Green Lake. Just get your birthday cakes somewhere else.

We were looking for somewhere to eat for lunch today and everything was too crowded because it was so nice outside! I didn't have long for lunch and the Subway looked really crowded. We decided to take a chance with the non-descript Seattle Bagel Bakery. I ordered the daily sandwich special which was pastrami, and I had it on a sourdough bagel. Not much meat for the price but the meat was quite flavorful and tasty. It was hot in there and they could have turned up the air conditioning (!) but it IS a bagel bakery, I guess. Anyway, it was a pleasant pastrami surprise!

While this place makes good desserts, they never seem to stock their best items (e.g., the pink farmhouse cookies). They suggest you order them--not exactly what you want to hear for the spur-of-the-moment purchase. They actually told me that "people come in here & buy like 10 cookies at a time & we always run out," to which I responded, well, then why don't you make more on a daily basis? No real response, other than pointing to their other lackluster cookies (which of course they don't run out of).
I removed my more positive review because of their complete disinterest in customer service. This isn't a one-time thing--more like 10 times where they are out-of-stock.

I should have looked up to see where I was this morning before I ordered from this three-walled, open-air bakery; instead, the pleasant face and voice of the counter clerk made me forget my private boycott. The owners are rude to Pike Place Market’s buskers (blaring their radios so we can’t be heard and therefore can’t make our living), gruff to their employees, and indifferent to their customers. The young clerk who helped me today was as sweet as a frosted cinnamon roll, but as soon as I heard her boss’s surly voice I remembered where I was. Also, the food is surprisingly uninspired. It would seem hard to go wrong with freshly baked sweets, but theirs are bland-flavored and stale-textured. I won’t make this mistake again.
