The cake looked nice and the part they actually got right tasted pretty good. But I was NOT impressed when I cut into the cake. Their idea of ""marble"" is one bottom slab totally...

Cakes to Reminisce About 11/21/2006

When I was a kid growing up in North Seattle, we used to make the 45 minute-trek down to the Rainier Valley just to visit Borracchini's Bakery for every birthday cake. Their bakery featured the latest technology at the time: we could bring in a picture from anywhere, have them project it on the cake, and watch as their expert decorators transferred the image onto the frosting. We were mesmerized. My parents kept returning because of the fresh cakes and delicious whip-cream frosting. We just thought it was extremely cool. Now that I'm older, I still visit for their gourmet cakes, and to support a local business. They are the last vestige of an all-Italian-farmland Rainier Valley that quickly changed due to white flight in the 60's and 70's. Remo didn't see any reason to leave, and so still runs his store featuring fresh homemade Italian foods, ice creams, an astounding variety of baked goods, and of course, their consistent cakes. Their other food (besides the ice cream and pasta sauce) rarely lives up to the status of their cakes, but it's worth a try. The cakes are easy to order day-of or online, and it's such a pleasure to support a long-standing tradition in South Seattle. more

Take a Taste of Italy Home 3/19/2006

Borracchini's Bakery has some of the best fresh baked Italian breads and cakes and desserts. They have a grocery full of Italian goods for you to take home to make a authentic Italian dinner. They prices are good and there is a full service deli. And if you get hungry while you are there you can get a slice of pizza for a $1.99 or a large sub-sandwich for $7.99. They also have been acclaimed for the cakes. So if you have a wedding coming you might want to check Borracchini's out. They have 2 stores in Seattle and a website. more

Wonderful Cakes! 12/31/2005

We have been ordering cakes from them for many, many years. If you don't live down in the south end it can be a bit of a drive but it is well worth it. Saturday's are quite busy so I always try o pick up cakes the day before. The market has many delicious treats to choose from and it is always an enjoyable experience going in here. They have some really fun and unusual cakes to choose from and the price is pretty reasonable. more

A family tradition for many decades 9/7/2005

Borracchini's frosting is the kind that makes you want to eat the frosting and forget the cake. It is the almost perfect marriage of creamy, fluffy, silky sugar and cream. This bakery knows how to make cakes and it will make them for any occasion. They even have an area with a step block for children to watch the final touches put on the cake. Borracchini's also sells Italian pastries, breads, hot meals to go, and Italian groceries. Venture over to Rainer Valley to ensure your mouth full of frosting. more

Awesome panini sandwiches and CHEAP wedding cakes! 8/17/2005

The photographer for our wedding recommended this place. We've told as many people as we could since going there! Their bakery is wonderful, and VERY affordable. They have a great selection of sandwiches and pizza to take out for lunch, and good home made pasta products. Our wedding cake was only $89 for a 2 tier cake that served 100 people! It's still the best cake I've ever had. Go! Now! more

Excellent Cakes 8/3/2005

I recently ordered a sheet cake from Borracchini's. It surpassed all of my expectations. Their website was very straightforward, so when I called to place the order I knew exactly what information to give. The cake was surprisingly inexpensive ($42 for a full sheet) and absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that their estimations are very generous. We had over half of the cake left after serving huge pieces to about 70% of their estimate. Luckily we really like cake! more
