I am going to have to agree with chris!!! The coffee at top pot is some of the best I have had in the city. The Barista's are consistant and espresso is sweet, crisp and round.

I don't drink coffee, but I do enjoy the tea at Top Pot. Not my favorite, but a nice treat once in a while.
The overall ambience of their stores makes me feel good too. Clean, funky and hipster. Plus if you need to get a box of doughnuts to go, you can easily call ahead and they will hook you up.

There's nothing I hate more than a cakey doughnut, so I was very pleased with the Boston Cream and Sugar doughnuts I got. Quite yummy and not too sweet.

Their coffee sucks, big time, has for years. I don't actually recall when I've had a poorer cup of coffee from a local place. I mean, they may have (somewhat) decent donuts, but come on, it's really not that hard to make an americano or a latte. Or, perhaps it is, as not one barista at the Capitol Hill or Downtown location seem to be able to figure it out.
As for the donuts, well, they certainly aren't as consistent as they once were. My friends and I stopped going because we left feeling as if we'd had a brick dropped in our stomache after eating the donuts. Not sure what they are/were doing to them, but it happened too many times.
I go back once in a while to check it out, but it's still bad coffee, surly scenester/hipster service and overpriced donuts. They should also figure out the Starbucks thing, because the Top Pot donuts they serve there are NOT fresh.

Try the Cherry Blossom doughnut. It will blow your mind.
No, really. So good, it should be illegal.

YOU WANT GOOD DOHNUTS?
You know those donuts that are displayed at Starbucks? Well they are Top Pot donuts and having one from Starbucks does not give them justice. I gave this place a great because the coffee is not terrific. You better get there early in the morning because the Bismarks (vanilla pudding filled chocolate donut) run out very fast. My absolute favorite are the pink boas! There are a ton to select from and each person has there own favorite.

I love this place! I've only been to this Top Pot on 5th Ave. and the one on 35th and the 5th Ave location is my favorite, so far. (The 35th street location is small but has a great patio...might be a good summer option). The space on 5th is beautiful and huge and the donuts are yumliscious....and they serve Ovalatine, too. It doesn't get any cooler than that. My only complaint...no big comfy chairs for extended lingering. BTW, the donuts are so rich and filling that just one will suffice....and they're addicting. Enjoy!

These are the donuts that Homer drools over. Luckily many Starbucks in the area carry a few. Feather Boa is my favorite.
