The fudge brownies here are heavenly...they are big, and you can't finish the whole thing at once because they are so rich! I had a custom cake made there too, and it was wonderful because the frosting wasn't sickeningly sweet---it was well-balanced with the cake and the berry filling (which actually tasted like berries, rather than sugar like cakes you get at the grocery store). Be sure to read the sign outside for the special of the day---it's always a great offer!

I have been going to Larsen's Bakery since I was a kid. The donuts are always light and fluffy, croissants are crusty with a delicate butter flavor and the bread and rolls are delicious. Prices are reasonable, with donuts around 75-85 cents. Croissants are around $1.40. They always have a nice range of cakes and specialty items. The espresso varies with every worker. Sometimes I get a great strong americano, other workers pull shots that taste like watered down drip. The manager who works the morning shift, often appears annoyed with customers and Ive often felt guilty being served. However, I put up with her attitude for the delicious bakery items! The store itself is long overdue for a good scrub down and/or makeover. You can tell the place is popular and often busy by the dirty chairs, tables and floors. The day old rack is full of bargains, with 4 croissants (2 chocolate and 2 plain) costing just $1.50. You have to get there early for the best day old deals. Larsen's is a Ballard fixture with a loyal following, a definite visit for any Seattle-ite.

They have carrotcake to die for!! Several friends have ordered their wedding cakes through Larsen's and they have all turned out beautiful and tasted great! They are a traditional Swedish bakery and sell all of kinds of goodies. They are great at making specialty cakes too! They often have day old stuff that you can pick up for next to nothing, too!
