After a local mechanic wanted $3000 to replace the transmission on our Subaru, Dean diagnosed and replaced a single bad bearing for less than half that cost. When a small oil lead appeared after the repair I returned the car one evening to have it checked out. In the hour I had a drink down the block they not only diagnosed a leaking axle seal (the axles are removed when repairing the transmission) but they replaced the seal and charged me nothing. I can't remember the last time I had that kind of experience with an auto repair shop. Not for nothing is the shop full of classic cars, taxi cabs and shuttle express vans.

Dean Transmission was recommended to my girlfriend and I by a co worker. He mentioned the guys worked around the clock most of the days and can always squeeze you in. They've fixed all kinds of parts on my cars. (two)
They've always given me a fair quote in under 24 hours and offered different price point options. On top of all this, They've even explained problems to me in an intuitive way. Sure I've payed top dollar for repairs, but walk in- service @ 9pm is worth it to me.
Sure they're gruff, THEY"RE MECHANICS. But they're fair.
In response to other postings:
If they made some mistakes or exercised poor judgement but I wouldn't judge a whole staff of prob 20+ by the actions of one or two.
go there, I would reccomend them to my family and friends.

I returned my car 4 times after their initial work. They replaced my transmission. The first time I returned was because the rebuilt transmission stopped shifting gears after one month of driving. Every visit since then has been in hopes that they can repair a new symptom that started immediately after the 2nd visit. About half the time now, my car will not start in Park. Even after 5 visits, the repair has not been successful. They said they did their best, but some cars just can not be fixed, and subtly asked me not to come back. On the last visit I found McDonalds garbage in my car from their test drive - which judging from the McDonalds receipt was about 10 miles further than they needed to go for such a test drive.
