These guys were the REAL better way to go.
After the competition tried to upsell me (amplifier, subwoofer, etc,), when all I really needed was to replace my blown factory speakers, I decided to check out Stereo Warehouse.
I walked in, and within 5 minutes they had sold me some great, basic replacement speakers without trying to send me home with a whole new system.
Installation went relatively fast. Their waiting area could be a little better, but for the price (installation was almost half of that at the competitors) I am not going to complain much.
The staff is colorful. I was surprised at the expletives, but I didn't care. You may want to leave the kids in the car when you come in. :)
And by the way, my system sounds just fine! Thanks guys!
Pros: Won't try to upsell you, knowledgeable.
Cons: Waiting area, neighborhood.

We have had radios and satellite receivers (Sirius) installed at Stereo Wharehouse.
They have been courteous and extremely helpful, specifically with problems with Sirius reception (which were no fault of Stereo Warehouse): they talked with Sirius and found the source of the problems. We would not have been able to get that kind of help ourselves from Sirius. No charge to us.
This is the only place in town where we would have automobile audio equipment installed or worked on.
(We have had them do installations in our Subaru Forester and our VW Vanagon.)
By the way, besides the courtesy and work, we like very much the easy humor there.
Pros: All work done very well
Cons: None at all

I will first start by letting everyone that I am an installer at Stereo Warehouse. I have been working there for about 6 years. I've been reading some of the bad reviews and would like to clear the air. I can't even begin to tell how many repeat loyal customers we have and people that love our store. And yes I have seen A few upset customers but never because we were rude or overpriced. Some people just think they should get everything for nothing or that we should replace gear that is way out of warranty. I think every store deals with crazy people once in awhile. And for the people that say we are rude, I can say that I have never been treated better anywere else I have worked. If you haven't been to our store you realy should check it out. Its insane how much cool gear we have. And even if you don't buy anything I'm sure you will enjoy our store. And as far as our our staff goes... We are all realy in to car audio and know our stuff. So before you are turned away by a few bad reviews come check it out for yourself. You will be happy you did!!!
Pros: Good people..Great product
Cons: None

The prices at stereo warehouse are great but the installation was horrible. It took at least eight hours for them to rewire my car and put in four new speakers and a deck. In the process of installing my stereo he bent the chrome piece where my window slides up. The piece cost 120 dollars to fix. The deck charges your ipod and has a aux port. I couldn't find out where the cord to charge and play your ipod went. So we called them on the trip back home and kept saying they were busy and wouldn't transfer us the the guy who installed the stereo. Then like half and hour later we talked to the manger and told him about the cord and he said it should already be plugged it because it goes into the back of the deck. So we had to drive all the way back to seattle from woodinville for them to put it in the deck. They did credit us for the window piece but it was wrong one which was half the price of the one we needed.
What i recommend is that you buy what you want there then take it to Best Buy, Circuit City, or Car Toys for a good installation. Stereo Warehouse all took piece off of my car that they didn't need too. Luckily they found them when we came back to get the cord put back in.

Just called to ask about installing a OEM Honda stereo I bought on ebay. My current stereo doesn't play CDs. The kid the took my call started off discussing installing my stereo, then when I told him I wasn;t looking to spend a lot on going out and buying after market, turned around and then told me they don't install manufacturer parts. Then he explained it was for liabilities sake, that we don't want to put it in and have you come back and say we messed up your stereo. And when I told him (politely) that I don't understand the reasoning because that would be any installer's goal putting in any stereo, he got aggressive and raised his voice telling me he'd been installing for 5 years and they don't install used equipment and never have. He ended our conversation by just hanging up after I told him I respected his ability to uphold the store's installation values.
I called because I wanted pro installation and asked about an ipod adaptor showing a willingness to purchase. The little punk just proved a man can't rely on a boy to do a Man's job!
I called immediately back and briefly explained I was looking from pro installation of a stereo I bought on ebay to a salesman and if they would install? Yes, no problem. was his answer.
If you don;t want teenage attitude from your car stereo installer, look else where.

We went to Stereo Warehouse to get 2 new speakers and better AM reception for a 2004 Chrysler factory installed stereo deck. The salesman advised that the tuner in the deck was probably bad and should be replaced. We followed his advice and bought a low priced Sony deck and 2 new speakers. They installed the 3 units but failed to hook up 2 speakers in the door - which will require a return to the store. We left the store and immediately noticed that the AM reception with the new unit had not improved and the technician failed 2 connect the front door speakers. In addition, the Sony unit does not have radio song I.D. So now we have 2 less speakers, a unit with fewer features, and no AM reception.
We returned the next day with the hope of exchanging the unit back to our old unit so we could at least have the upscale features in that unit with the lack of AM reception. The owner refused to refund our money or offer a suitable solution. After much haggling, he offered to charge us another $25 to remove the new unit, install our old stereo (we would eat the original installation costs). The technician noted the newly installed Stereo Warehouse speakers are not compatible with the old unit--once again, information the sales clerk and owner did not know about their own product. The only resolution Stereo Warehouse offered is to replace the new speakers with another set of new speakers in order to use the original deck at our own expense.
I am not able to write the details of this interaction and our extreme dissatisfaction with the owner, sales person and installer due to the restrictions on this review site. But suffice it to say, it was the worst customer relations experience I can recall. After 4 days and several phone calls, the company does not accept any responsibility for their employee(s) lack of product knowledge. Stereo Warehouse did not refund for labor or produc

As I expected from the commercial these are a bunch of crazy people. I was initially greeted by all things a woman who actually had an IQ. I was then greeted by an older fellow who joked a lot and treated me like a person and not a walking wallet. A little heavy on the playful banter though (but then again I speed sometimes).
Install of the machine took about fifteen min. I thought they were going to say they couldn?t do it when the
Guy handed me my keys
Overall I saved a good $50 bucks on my alpine minus 10 for gas is a $40.00 savings from the place that usually gets my business. Overall Well worth the drive from Tacoma.
Pros: fun
Cons: low rent
