We got a used care at an auction for my son - hoped it was a good deal, but were a little nervous. Took it in to see what we actually bought. They ran a complete diagnostic on it and then printed out each of the items that the car would need done in the future. VERY LOW pressure. He was kind enough to point out each of the items and explained in detail the urgency behind each one. I paid for a quick diagnostic and got a lot of information, totally worth it! Now when we are ready to have the suggested repairs made, we'll be in! Thanks to everyone there!
Pros: Friendly and Informative
Cons: None really

I went in b/c my car was not turning on. We do not know much about cars so we went in to ask. We asked how much it would be for us to diagnose it. He was very rude about the whole matter and repeated about 5 or 6 times that it would depend on if it was an electrical problem or an engine problem. WE DONT KNOW! That is the point!. His tone started rude and went to intolerable and he was staring me down. Finally, he just picked up his phone, sat down and started talking to someone and completely ignored us. Please do not go here, it is about principle. People should treat others with common courtesy, it is essential. I really wish I knew his name, white male late 30's, short hair.
Pros: None
Cons: Rude, Condescending, No Respect for Customer, Completely ignores you

I went to Ricks after a friend of mine told me that it was the most honest place in Seattle... he was not lying!
My car was over heating and the hot air was blowing cold, so I took the car to a few other places (I like to get 3 bids) and all of the other places told me that "You need a new water pump and should replace the timing belt at the same time". They also wanted $500- $700!
The last place I went was Ricks. They said it sounded like a bad radiator cap. They replaced the cap and my car works great. They saved me hundreds so I am writing a review! Hands down the cheapest mechanic visit I have ever had... they have a life long customer in me. Would recommend (and do) to anyone needing car repair!
Pros: Cheap, Honest, Clean bathroom, free candy ;-)
Cons: they are kinda far from me

I was in the repair shop at the time the last person was in and that was NOT exactly what happened!! TShe came in and asked if someone would look at her vehicle and the gentlemen said yes it will be this much money if this is the problem for diagnosing the problem if not the amount will be this much if it is the other since she couldn't explain the problem. She responded with I don't know what is wrong and he said I won't know either until I get it in the shop and take a look at it and figure it out. She wasn't interested in that explanation and wanted him to use his magic powers to tell her what was wrong without looking at the car and charging her the lowest price. This went on for a few moments and then with phones ringing he proceed to answer the phone while she figured out what she was going to do. I asked about her when she left and he said it was the 3rd time she had been in (and he'd given her the exact same explanation each time) and wanted him to figure it out at no charge and without looking at it. This would frustrated anyone in any business.
Pros: These guys no cars!
Cons: Everyone knows these guys know car and are busy!!

I've been a customer for over 12 years. They keep my cars humming and the cost is always good. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

I went in to Rick's (not at a busy time) to ask for help on identification of a part on my car. I usually go to a mechanic for most things, but am trying to learn to do as many things for myself as I can. I am very technical (have a Ph.D. in science and have written ~15 scientific papers published in well respected, peer-reviwed journals). I have a relatively poor repair manual that does not give an accurate description or picture of where the part is.
I entered the office and unfortunately, don't know who came to the front desk. In any case, I asked him if he could help me find a part on my car. He replied in a rather abrasive tone, "You can pay me to find it". I explained that I had a rather poor repair manual which didn't give an accurate description of the part's location. His reply to this (in a belittling tone) was, "If you have a book and still can't find it, you should probably give up working on cars." I thanked him for his time and left.
I get about 90% of the work done on my car by mechanics, and had considered RIck's as a convenient location and possible place to have work done. However, treating your customers like they are morons does not sit well with me. It is not a good practice to belittle your customers who are trying to learn something. So you can rest assured that I will NEVER get any work done at Rick's, regardless of their mechanical prowess. I wouldn't mind if he'd politely explained to me that he isn't in the business of doing those sorts of things and if he does it for one person he has to do it for everyone. As soon as he realized I wasn't there to give him a bunch of money, he was just downright rude.
I have since identified the part myself (about 20 minutes later) and will go somewhere else to have it repaired/replaced..
Note: Not to be confused with Rick's in Maple Leaf. I have no idea about that location, or if they are even affiliated.
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: belittling, unfriendly and rude

My wife and I are in the service industry. We have a small house cleaning company that has about three vehicles. We also have a couple of trucks, and three semi vintage cars that I love. Five years ago a friend of mine referred me to Rick's Tires.
Up to that point keeping our vehicles on the road had been a challenge. Who do you trust when it comes to auto repair? We had been kicked around for years by shops that changed mechanics as fast as they were trained. My friends in the auto repair business have specialties that my range of vehicles were outside of. It was one of these friends that recommended Rick's.
In my world we need answers to problems. Rick's supplies those. We need effecient and cost effective repairs and Rick's delivers. Mark and Troy, the owners, are second generation auto racers. Everything they have told me about my vehicles has turned out to be true. They know from trial and error what will work. When I have one of those requests to get or keep a vehicle on the road they offer workable solutions.
The prices are fair. The prices are right. I've been told what's worth it. Some times we just have to let a vehicle go.
Fair, honest, and reliable service is what Rick's has given us.
