Alexanders is the best bead store in Seattle! They have some of the most amazing, unique stones you'll ever find. The quality of the gemstones is truly unbeatable, and the prices are SOOO LOW! (we're talking $1 for peridot & garnet strands!) They told me some of them are especially cut for Alexaders, which is a plus knowing there aren't many out there. I can see that the people who own/work this store are very knowledgeable and have a ton of pride in their products. The girls are always excited to help me with my projects. There's been a couple times I brought something there that I was having trouble finishing and the man with the accent showed me a solution I never thought of.
Tip: antiques in the cases at the back of the store are very interesting

What's the point of having a personal style, if you buy clothes and accessories that thousands of others have as well? At Laura Bee, you don't have to worry. She can custom make your bag, pillow, belt, etc. There are awesome fabrics, trims, and ideas that you can choose to make your special item.
I felt inspired just being in the store/studio. And the owner is super friendly (don't forget about the cute dog who hangs out in the store!).
This is a great place to have a colorful, one-of-a-kind gift made for someone you love. I wish I had a picture to show how cool it is in there! And as prices go, it's actually somewhat affordable.

It's not only European Garden Ornaments that will delight you! They make Eastern Deity images, Buddhas, and an assortment of things that will attract people who want to give their coven or temple a traditional look. They're not going to make you look ludicrously rich, but the craftsmanship is fine enough to make you look moderately rich! I personally prefer their rust-colored finishes, but they can do a few different things with cement.. These are pieces that complete an appropriate setting, that seem to belong in an old mansion or well manicured garden. I suggest starting with one of their fountains.

This is an awesome local yarn store that is absolutely worth the trip. The store is stock full of yarn and the best part is that nearly half of the store is on sale. The diversity of the yarn is incredible. Also the owner, Sue Fulay, is so friendly and willing to help you find the right yarn for your project. She will also help you wind your purchases in store for free. I will be returning to this store in the future - but for those who are not local to Seattle, you can order from her online at www.littleknits.com

This store has an vast selection of fine cotton fabrics - primarily meant for quilting. You can do some serious damage to the bank account in here. The prices are at the top end for cottons - $8-9 a yard or so. They have both colors groupings and line groupings - so it is quite easy to pull together coordinates for a project. They also carry a vast line of quilting books and a decent notions section. They offer classes, whcih I haven't not had the pleasure of taking. They offer some lovely Japanese fabrics and other variety fabrics. I've never been able to leave empty handed!

Michaels Arts and Crafts stores are the best places to find most supplies for the creator in all of us. From scrapbooking to stain glass painting there is something for everyone. I just love the assortment of paints and brushes, my husband goes for the pencils and how to books and kids like just about everything. There are knitting supplies and candle making kits. I find that the salespeople are helpful and friendly. The best thing is when there is a 40% discount coupon in the Sunday paper. Oh, and the sales are awesome.

Beadworld is the place I go when I have a crafting project go wrong (which it invariably does). The last time I walked in I had a string of freshwater pearls and a desire to make them into a necklace - no experience, no problem! The staff was exceptionally helpful, even going so far as to print out some flyers that had step-by-step instructions on threading a necklace. Prices were very reasonable, and soon I had my own beautiful necklace.
PROS: Reasonable prices, exceptionally helpful staff, good selection

More
No costume venture is complete without a trip to Display & Costume. I think they have a rental department, but they mostly cater to people like me who enjoy cobbling together their own costumes from various parts. They most recently saved my butt this past New Year's Eve by carrying fake Uzis. (I attended a James Bond-themed party.) The toy guns looked real enough that only minor modifications had to be made. Best of all, the Uzis have an awesome rat-a-tat sound effect. (NOTE: Toys R Us and other toy stores do not carry any guns other than Nerf or "ray gun"-type guns anymore because kids apparently get shot up by cops that think they are carrying real guns. Also, there's some issue with morals and teaching kids that guns are bad or something like that...)
Display & Costume is definitely a one-stop shop and prices reflect that. Some things are cheap (fake Uzis) and others are not (fabric). They have a section in the back where you can buy fabric and assorted ribbons and other fabric novelties. Mostly, the store is a haven of accessories for almost any costume you can dream up. They also carry party supplies, including more unusual items like fake palm trees for your luau-themed parties. At Christmas, they have a whole room of elaborate Christmas decorations. Perhaps best of all, the store is located near the Northgate Mall, Pacific Fabrics, and Target, so you can always stop in at those other stores if you don't find everything you need!
