If you have a ton of money to blow and a penchant for culinary delectation, you might find something new and interesting at this high-end kitchen ware store in the heart of tourist-trap central. Here you may find the sort of cooking utensils that many local cooks wish they had in their restaurants, but which usually only end up in the homes of wealthy people. It's not only pricey items that make it into this store, but many of the items here seem to appeal to those who have spent far more money than is typical, learning about food.

Hi Alex,
Sorry to hear about your freezer misfortune. Recently I purchased my appliances at Albert Lee. They carry all the luxury brands including sub zero and viking and do have a repair/service department. I'd recommend giving them a call. Not sure where you purchased your fridge but it's worth giving Albert Lee a call. They are located at the base of the magnolia bridge.

Upon purchasing a new house in Seattle, purchasing a tv (a big one) was on the top of my husband's priority list. He did most of the research online and saw that Best Buy had the best selection and prices. We visited the Bellevue store and while I was less than enthusiastic about the large purchase, the salesman was very patient in understanding what we were looking for and took extra time to explain the pros and cons of each model. We were in and out in less than and hour and a new TV was delivered within the week. It was much less painful than I thought!

Dave's sells good, cheap appliances. If you don't have a lot of money to put into buying a brand new appliance, buy a rebuild appliance from Dave's. I have been buying from them for years and every appliance has worked really well and has been worth the savings. I definitely recommend them.

After kind of abusing our old vacuum cleaner after remodeling a bathroom and using it to pick up drywall and other debris that I should not have, I took it in to AAA. He explained how drywall turns to powder which is deadly for household vaccum cleaners but said he could give it his best cleaning shot although because of the abuse he couldn't guarantee it. He also heard what he thought were loose bearings which he said meant the vaccum could go whenever and when it did it would not be worth repairing. Granted, he said it could go in a week or last a couple years, just that the bearings would not be worth replacing.
After about 3 days he called back (a few days earlier than he estimated) and we went in. He said it was a good vaccum and actually recommended against replacing it with a cheap model. There was no pressure to buy an expensive one - he just said to buy a good one when we did after this one died. He spent quite some time with us and eventually we wound up buying one on sale that, while admittedly was more than we were planning on was a lot cheaper than the top of the line. He said it was probably the best value in the store at the time. He also threw in the cleaning of our old vac (which we now treat as kind of a shop vac in the garage).
He was very knowledgeable and spoke about a lot of technical aspects that made sense - most shops always seem to say just toss and buy new. He repaired it willingly and made recommendations - part of why we eventually just went ahead and bought new from AAA so we could have them service. Several months later and still consider the new vac a great deal.

Our relationship with Almvig's goes back about two years, to when we had just moved into our house. We went in and bought a refrigerator and range. One of the best things about this purchase was that they were able to order a fridge that had been discontinued, but that met our specific needs. Not only were they able to get us a hard-to-find product, but their prices were also better than other places we had looked for the same appliances. We were so happy with that experience that we let ourselves be talked into going back a couple of weeks later for a very nice range hood, and we are so glad we got that as well.
More recently, we decided to move ahead with a full kitchen remodel, and of course we went back to Almvig’s for the remaining appliances we needed: dishwasher and microwave. Once again, the prices they gave us were the best we could find, and their service was as friendly as always. Nearing the end of this remodel, with our baby girl due very soon, we ran into a problem with the dishwasher – it had been damaged somehow, and was not functioning. Our contractor denied responsibility and did not want to help; we called the local authorized Kitchenaid service centers, and they could not get to us for over a week. Don at Almvig’s was the only person who seemed to want to help: he was able to send an installer to look at the dishwasher that day. And although it did could not be determined what happened to the dishwasher, he offered to replace it and have the new one installed only two days later, at no further cost to us. It is such a relief to have the dishwasher in place and working now!
Since we bought our first appliances at Almvig’s, we have always recommended them to our friends and family. Now we strongly insist that they go there for everything they need. We have already told our story to several friends, and will continue to do so. We will always go back for any appliances we may need in the future.

I just bought a couple of appliances at Albert Lee. The selection is great and I found that it was very affordable despite the prices being marked higher than the Lowe's or Home Depot prices.
Albert Lee's prices are clearly marked with how much is included (for example, the range prices include delivery, installation, and hauling away old range, which, after the $70 price increase over Lowe's for the same item, was actually cheaper because Lowe's charges more for all of those things). They also carry more In-Stock than the big box stores for delivery that same week instead of the 2-3 weeks that Lowe's needs for many items. I didn't see any prices that didn't include delivery, so make sure to factor that part of the price into your selection, because most of the stores charge at least $65 for delivery or $140 for delivery and installation.
Another big plus is that it's a local, family-owned store. They also just opened an Alderwood Mall location that has easy parking if downtown is a pain.

I recently brought my old sewing machine into Ballard Sew and Vac to be fixed. This was my first experience with the shop other than the occasional vacuum bag purchase. The first women I spoke to told me the machine was pretty much toast and not worth looking at. But when she moved on to the next customer a younger women stepped in and asked if she could take a look at it. She looked like she couldn't be more than 18 (if that) but man did she know her stuff! Turns out the only problem was I wasn't threading it right! The younger women (I didn't catch her name) was an angel and gave me some great tips on how to keep my machine up and running as well as how to use it properly! Not only did she fix my machine up in no time, but she was honest, polite, willing to help, AND a pleasure to talk to. It's not often you find all of that in someone fresh out of high school!

This is a great fireplace and woodstove store in Ballard. They've been around forever and are super-helpful (in my experience). I'm betting they have a great list of proven installers they work with and would be happy to recommend.
