This is a delightful store, with an emphasis on thoroughness and quality. I've had several pair of boots and shoes restored here, had some shoes customized for dancing, and had the zipper replaced on an expensive bag my mother purchased in Italy several years ago. All of the work was top quality. Someone comes in and does season window displays for the shop every month or so. Those are a wonderful feature of the community!

Paula, owner of Dumb Clothing, had a small shop on Capitol Hill when the lure of travel called her away. So...the only way to get her great skirts (I sell a few everytime I wear one out) is to register on her site: www.dumbclothing.com and receive an alert when she is in town. Otherwise...you will have to find a way to New York in the Springtime to get the real thing. Paula makes great fun girl skirts...in New York you can actually design it with her in her own shop. The second best part...cost is between $40-$50 per skirt...but you look like you went to Tulip or Barney's in Seattle. My fashion secret is now out.

Mona Lisa's Boutique offers everything a woman is looking for when shopping for cute clothes, accessories, and even for the home. Not only is there a well stocked and regularly rotating selection of clothing, jewelry, handbags, and shoes, the store also offers an interesting array of furniture, dishes, picture frames and other beautiful vintage wares. I have yet to visit the store without finding something I liked and always have fun looking around. The vintage clothing is very unique and the current styles often include those boutique brands that break the bank when new. This is the best place to get those designer jeans you have been lusting after but just can't quite pull off because the hit to the wallet is too much. The prices here are reasonable on every item. There is even a sale rack for those hunting for even more of a bargain. The atmosphere is welcoming and intimate, with the owners being very friendly and accessible. Expect to be accompanied at some point by a sweet cat who complements the environment perfectly. The topper is you can also consign your clothes and accessories there. What better way to be "out with the old and in with the new"----to you.

Who doesn't? Well, most men, I assume. :)
But Seattle women are lucky to have a terrific resource in its back yard.
Decent Exposures is a bra company (they also make a few other items like swimsuits and skirts) that gives excellent fitting service. Since they're here in Seattle, we get a considerable advantage over those poor women who must order over the internet: we can actually go to their shop for a personal fitting with the owner!
I had no idea how customizable a bra can be! More elastic here, less fabric there.... Organic. Latex-free. Nursing. Sports.
And, once you receive your bra (since they're handmade to order, allow ~2 weeks), you have 60 days to have it further adusted, for free!
The prices are in line with average bras, about $35. But with such personal service, it's a bargain.

I needed a pair of running/walking shoes to start my PT program to recovery. I was pretty specific that I wanted the Nike+ system so I could track my progress. I know myself, and this is the only way I'll stay on track.
I found that besides Niketown, Footlocker and Finish Line had the shoes. I choose Finish Line at the Northgate Mall to go to. Thank goodness!!
I went in and they took a look at my sole wear pattern - indicating excessive supination. This ruled out the Nike Shok system, which are meant to help with pronation, which would throw me off even more. I'd not have known this had I just gone to a "shoe store."
W/o knowing my need for Nike+. they took me down the wall from the more expensive Nike shoes to show me some cheaper Asics when told I'd be starting with walking and progressing to running. I added my Nike+ request, and they pulled the ONE compatible shoe off the shelf that fit all my needs. I tried on a size , got them professionally laced (surprisingly, this makes a BIG difference...) and was set.
They have a club where you can sign up on the spot and earn points. Once you spend $200, you get $20 back. Add the $10 off $60 in store coupon they have at http://www.finishline.com and you're rolling in some extra cash.
The clerk that helped me was incredibly knowledgeable, and very accommodating to my questions and the length of time the whole trip took. This is my first happy shoe buying experience. I;d give a 6th star if I could.

I love this store. I wouldn't call these shoes designer stilettos but they are perfect for Seattle weather. I bought a pair of heavy duty boots here and they have maintained their look for 6 years. This company also has a lifetime repair policy. I have never used this policy because the shoes are so well made. Seattle is not the place to be wearing gorgeous heels and sandals. If you need a really heavy warm boot or shoe with style than I recommend buying a pair of John Fluevogs.

This was a referral from a co-worker and i couldn't be happier! i've gone several times to see Dr. Scott Jamieson and always been pleased. After the arsenal of tests he is very thorough in explaining what he sees, what it should or shouldn't look like, what it means for my vision and general eye health now and in the future. this is probably pretty standard but he also is a complete crack-up and overall very pleasant.
on my last visit i asked him about lasik for my husband and he said he thinks its a great thing but be careful where you go to get it. he does some work for a downtown insurance company so he routinely examines people who have had BAD lasik experiences from BAD "laser experts". He offers exams for people considering lasik and will tell them how good or poor of a candidate they are, what they can expect in outcome (you'll still need bi-focals as you get older), and which of three lasik centers he recommends for your eye type and condition (apparently cornea thickness among other factors is important).
