I am going to have to travel further for my extensions and color but it's going to be worth it. Pros: Extensions! and great cuts and color. Cons: Melissa Reetz is at Hedmans on Mercer Island now ;(

I have never gotten as many compliments on my hair ever since I started going to Melissa at Salon Chemistry. Both my color and cut are fantastic. As icing on the cake, the atmosphere in the salon is chic and tastefully done while the staff are completely unpretentious. It's a combination I haven't found elsewhere in Seattle. I highly recommend it! Pros: Cut, color, atmosphere, unpretentious. Cons: Park on the street, but there's always parking available, $3 for 2 hours.

I came into the salon for a trim, and was immediately impressed by the friendly atmosphere. I talked with the stylist about how it's taken my thick wavy hair FOREVER to grow out, and how I have finally gotten it to a length and style that I like. She looked like she was listening. Apparently she wasn't. Because she then proceeded to ignore everything we talked about and spent a good 45 minutes destroying my hair with thinning shears until I looked and felt like a scraggly malnourished version of what it was only one hour before. Not only is it extremely thinned out, but because I have course wavy hair, the many different lengths created by the thinning shears have made taming frizz nearly impossible. This cut will literally take at least a good year to grow out. This might be a decent place if you have standard, easy to manage hair. But with curly hair, one type of cut does NOT fit all, and this place is not a place I would ever step into again. Pros: Friendly staff, good location Cons: Horrible hair cut.

I have curly hair and it's usually incredibly difficult to find someone who knows how to cut it well. Salon Chemistry was taking part in a fund raiser and I thought I'd take a chance, so I read reviews and scheduled a visit with Melissa. Although it was 10pm on a Saturday night, Melissa (and all the staff) was really friendly and professional. Melissa gave me a fantastic haircut, and one of the best shampoos I've ever had (my favorite part of a haircut, if done right). I was totally impressed and will definitely be back! Pros: Amazing cut for my difficult curly hair. Cons: Can't think of one.

Missy is an amazing artist and I am very happy with my cuts and colors. My wife got extensions from Missy and has been back four times! It was a very professional but relaxed environment and I'll definately be going back. Also, cheers to their new manager, Frankie. I went to see Lindsey here a few weeks ago. I don't normally write these, but when I saw the last review, I had to respond. Lindsey was marvelous. She was pleasant and chatty. I was offered coffee and plenty of reading material. She was very interested in finding out exactly what I was looking for, then shared her ideas with me before she started. I left feeling wonderful about myself and her. The salon is very clean and beautifully decorated. They should have called it Heaven. Pros: Great atmosphere, great music, very friendly staff
