Kids of all ages (yes, adults, too) can't help but enjoy themselves at Six Flags. Sure the price has skyrocketed over the years, but if you make a day of it, it's not so bad. The park is well-laid out, but massive, so it's easy to get separated from your friends. I particularly like the water park, where I can plop my bones on an inner tube in the lazy river, going round and round on a hot summer day while the kids are running themselves ragged on the rides.
They even offer a variety of foods, which I like, as opposed to EVERYTHING being fried and/or loaded with sugar. It's nice to see some healthy alternatives for the grown-ups.
Take the kids--they'll love you for it.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens seems more designed with the pre-teen crowd in mind than the over-18 set. While there are a number of rides for young children, it seems that the actual roller coasters are few and far between. One can't expect too much from an amusement park in the middle of town, but an afternoon is more than enough time to go on every ride.
The one thing that is not as child-friendly, however, is the amount of beer that is sold in the park. While I am no prude, I saw a few too many drunk fathers taking their kids on rides.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens is one of the smaller "major" amusement parks I've been to. It sits right in the heart of downtown Denver, so space is at a premium. It has quite a few good rides and a decently sized kids area. One complaint might be that if you suffer from motion sickness there won't be a lot here for you. Not a lot of shows or tame rides like you might find at other larger parks. But it does a good job at providing a fun, festive atmosphere and it's a good time for an occasional treat

Six Flags Elitch Gardens is smaller than the usual amusement park in the suburbs, but here you get good rides in a central location. Right next to downtown, its easily accessible, making the annual pass something to consider. In the summer, the water park is worth the price of admission, with a wave pool and several slides. To get a higher rating, this park would need more room to expand and make bigger rides, which just isn't possible in the current location.

This is a great addition to an amusement park. Instead of sweating and drinking one more soda to combat heat stroke, go to the waterpark in the afternoon. We did the typical rides in the morning and then cooled off at the water park during the heat of the day.
Save money by bringing your own lunch and eating it at the picnic tables out in the parking lot.

When going to Elitch, get there early to enjoy everything. The added entertainment of the waterpark makes it worth the fee to get in. Start at the waterpark and finish at the amusement park. Bring your own food and drinks, as they are pretty expensive there. Or buy one of the souvenir cups for 5-6 dollars and get refills for .99 cents. We bought one and shared it amongst us. As well, you can fill them up in between at the fountains available.
If you bring the Coke cans you can get discounts to the park entrance fees. They have to be the ones advertising elitch on them. If you can go during the week days, you can get buy one get one in free.
My kids 3 and 5 loved kiddie land and the looney tunes characters. The show they put on kept them in their seats for the whole show. even my three year old enjoyed every ride including the roller coaster for kids.
Make sure you get to the water park early though as lines can get long and it does close at 6 pm.

This a newly build amusement park near downtown. A fun place to be but very expensive. They have all the rides (roller coasters, spinning things and ferris wheel) along with an arcade, a water park and an ampatheater. If you can pickup some entrance coupons, bring water and eat outside the park it would be a better deal.

I never leave from a day at elitches without a fun, exciting and romantic day! Every time i go i always walk out with a new friends number and a smile on my face. Although the admission and food and drink prices are a little large i always manage. There are over 1,000 guests each day,and i wonder why? Elitches is the best place for family fun but also a safe place for your children!
