Northgate is like what Alderwood used to be - dark colors, low ceilings, etc. In a way, I find it comfy because it's the sort of mall I grew up going to, and because it's not as flashy as Alderwood, it's much less busy. So if you're hoping something is still on the sales rounder at your favorite store - check Northgate.

Lets hope the rumors are true because Northgate NEEDS a facelift! Once you're inside, you feel trapped by the low ceilings and utter lack of natural light. It is very depressing and usually makes me want to leave as soon as possible. There are a decent selection of stores here, but nothing you can't find at Alderwood or Bellevue Square - and at least at those malls, you have a nicer atmosphere.

Northgate is closest to my house, and I go here often enough. It usually satisfies my shopping needs. However, if I ever want to do real shopping, I end up going elsewhere. While Northgate has a solid selection of stores, sometimes I want more. Also, some of the stores in the mall are quite cheezy, and are not places I frequent. Not to be a snob...

I think this mall is so depressing. I grew up in N. Seattle, and Northgate was always where we went. I even worked at the GAP there. It was just a part of life. But now, I avoid it at all costs. I feel like it zaps my energy whenever I walk in.
Maybe it's how old and outdated it is. Maybe it's the lack of natural lighting. Maybe it's the fact that it's just so dang different than U-Village and Alderwood, which are moving to the outdoor mall style. Whatever the reason, I don't like going there.

Remember when Northgate Mall was THE mall to go to? I do, but it sure isn’t the best mall anymore in my opinion. The stores they have are not as great as some of the other malls in the area and the ones that I do want to go to seem very small and often are not stocked as well so you can’t find what you want. The only good thing is that they have some great restaurants in the area. Just drive a little further to go to a different mall and you’ll find what you want.

I was told that Northgate Mall was the first mall ever built in Washington so thats a pretyy cool fact. If you like shopping, you'd like this mall. It's pretty big compared to most malls and has good stores. Some of my favorites are Hollisters, Rave, American Eagle, Jcpennys, Bon Macys, and Nordstrom. You can find good prices and always find sale blow outs mostly in the winter time so check it out!

This mall may not have all the modern luxuries that newer malls like Alderwood, Bellevue Square, and Southcenter has but if you know what you are getting it is easier to go here. I say this because there is no traffic at all, you can find parking right next to the entrance, and there are no crowds to get in your way of a quick in and out shopping experience. I have heard that they are finally going remodel Northgate to bring it up to par with the other malls in the area.

Northgate Mall was one of the first malls in the country to open (1950) and it shows. Yes it has some of the basic attractions for shopping (JC Penny's, Macy's and Nordstrom's) as well as chic teen shopping stores, but a walk through leaves you with a feeling of wanting more. The food court is very basic lined with unhealthy food and a loud ambiance. Alderwood or Southcenter (neighboring malls) are cheap, better malls. I am sorry but this mall must get the boot!
