I attended the Kasbah feeling great and warmed up to the enviroment inside. The food smelled and tasted great. The flavor was perfect and just right to get you eating more. The service kept you in your seat. The waiter was welcoming and was checking in on us to see if we were doing great and we were enjoying our time here. I highly recommend the Kasbah, you wont regret coming here, trust me its a journey you soon wont forget, I'm definitly coming back.
Pros: Everything is perfect
Cons: Nothing

My husband and I have eaten here many times and have been very pleased every time. I am a veggie and he is not. Their menu has a wide variety of dishes to please any palate. The food is different than any other food i have eaten but it was delicious. The service is always good and the prices are amazing. We have a hard time not going there when we venture out of the eastside and into the city. I would highly recommend giving this little cafe a try.
Pros: small cozy cafe
Cons: parking

Having been to Ethiopia myself, I've really come to love their cuisine for its unique blend of flavors and spices. Meskel captures this tradition quite nicely. You always know bad Injera what it's too sour, and I've never had sour Injera at Meskel. Their green chicken and yebeg tibs are amazing.
The best part of Meskel is the kitfo. They use a Gurage recipe that is really a cut above all others that I've tried (of course, being a typical American, I ask for the kitfo well done). The other great thing to order is their spice tea. They actually use Addis tea, which gives it a much better flavor than the Lipton I've had at other places.
The people are nice, the food is great, the atmosphere is pleasant. I highly recommend Meskel for the first-time diner.
Pros: Awesome Kitfo and Addis tea!
Cons: Soda only comes in cans, so it's not refillable.

I'm a regular at trivia night at the Northside Grill. It's always really well run and the food is great. I was shocked to read the last review. Surprisingly I did see the interaction between the staff and these customers and all I can say is shame on you for writing that review. All the staff was asking for is that customers don't ask for a glass of ice then pull a soda out of their backpack like this couple had done. These guys must be so cheap. Life is short dude, live it up. I recommend this trivia spot and always have a good time.

I love this place, and have since I moved here five years ago. The chef (and I think owner) is wonderful. Her cooking is simple yet utterly delicious, and I've never had a bad or even mediocre meal here. I like the fact that it's not a chichi spot like so many places in the city, but the space is comfortable and homey. Her focus is the food, which is flavorful and always tasty.
Pros: Some of my favorite food in the city, supporting a local businesswoman, easy parking
Cons: It can get cold but they're quick to turn the heaters your way when you sit down

Mesob is the best Ethiopian restaurant in town! I love African food and have tried many of the restaurants, and this is the best. Thanks to my friend Solmaz for introducing me.
If you go, get a veggie combo and a mesob combo for a party of 3-4 and enjoy all the tastes the restaurant has to offer!

I've been a customer for 12 years and eat here every time I am anywhere near the Ave. Being a vegetarian, I only ever get the falafel or spaniko pita, but they are to die for. All the other food I see looks killer & people appear to be loving it. It's not the Ritz, but it doesn't need to be - great food, great price & a welcoming non-atmosphere keep me coming back. Continental Pastry three doors up is great for dessert too!
Pros: Super-tasty food, lots to choose from
Cons: Ali cooks like a god - the other guys can be hit-or-miss

I agree: by far the best "Ethiopian" restaurant in Seattle (ok, ok, technically "Eritrean", and boy will the Ethiopians be pissed about that). The owner is incredibly friendly and gave me that "we only use special seasoning only found in a hidden valley in Eritrea" line that make places like this ROCK! I'm drooling just thinking about it... BUT, I have to clarify: I'm doing research for a travel book (YES I'm including this!) and I think the name is "Cafe Weini". I wish I could verify, but it's so hidden, remote, and unknown that I can't find the same spelling twice online. How's that for great?
