I have been a customer of Zero Minus Plus for fifteen years now, and would never go anywhere else for a gift or something I need for my home. I have lived in Los Angeles for 51 years and our city offers many different unique stores to shop for gifts. But I have never found any other store that even comes close to Zero Minus Plus. The merchandise is displayed in a way that is very pleasing to the eye, so that you can easily find what you may be looking for. Every item is unique in it's own way, and there is usually an explanation of the product and the artist that created it. The art of giving is special, and I know when I go to this store, I will find something for the person who has everything. So many of my friends now are loyal shoppers there because of the beautiful gifts they have received. The service is excellent and they gift wrap for every occassion in a way that makes you want to save the packaging. I recently redecorated my home, and my decorator picked almost all my special accessories from there. Not only are they timeless, but they completed my home and made it as special as it could be. What more can I say? Everytime I walk into Zero Minus Plus, I feel special and walk out with a smile on my face. Hope you enjoy the experience as much as I have.

This is one of my favorite stores in the area. They are one of only a few companies that do not outsource their merchandise production. Bravo for that! Its one of the major reasons I like this store in addition to the great selection, cutting edge styles and (for the most part): helpful staff, (with the exception of the folks who run the dressing rooms who can at times be a tinge rude). Otherwise, a great place and highly recommended. Their sales are terrific as well. They mark their prices down way lower than the the other location in Costa Mesa. This branch is also much larger, 3 floors worth! I love the west side!

I'm a big fan of Afro funke Thursdays so I checked the new Salsa night on Mondays. I have danced Salsa a little before but I was a bit rusty so I took both lessons( 8pm-10pm). The instructor Cristian amazing... not only is he one of the best dancers I've ever scene, he is patient and teaches some really cool moves. The place was packed and now I know why. With the recession in full swing you can park your car (Free), get a 2 hr lesson (included in cover), and dance til 2am for only $5. The girl at the door says it's $10 when they have live music but the dance lessons are still included. This place is a steal of a deal.

Zanzibar is owned by the same folks as Temple Bar (also in Santa Monica) so the design and music styling is similar. There's a live DJ spinning hip hop on Saturdays, and house on Fridays. The Moroccan decor is trendy, but not annoyingly so, and there's a large dance floor. The line picks up at about 11pm and the place does get crowded. The dress code isn't restrictive and both casual or dressed up will work. $10 cover.

I love the salad specials they have here - the grilled chicken and grilled steak are both yummy, make you feel healthy without being deprived. They use some sort of special sauce which gives it an asian-mediterranean flavor and is still really juicy. Plus lots of good quality feta - yum! People here are very nice too and it's a nice and quiet spot.

You bring your surfboard in, or whatever, and not more than two steps in, someone's like, "What up, dude?!?"
Then like three people swarm you and look at your board, and get you what you need.
Never, ever, been disappointed here. Screw those other places, that have like uninterested, pure sales clerks.
The dudes that work here are all surfers, and I think they'd much rather just chill, smoke a bowl, and get other dudes stoked on surfing too, than try to sell you a bunch of useless junk.
A+.
Pros: Fantastic customer service, good prices, parking in back, good variety.
Cons: Absolutely none.

Nice neighborhood sushi bar. I took my son there for a quick bite. The sushi was tasty, but I found the portions to be on the small side. I would recommend ordering the hamachi to start. They also have a good selection of rolls.

This place is amazing. I have for quite some time now been a Yummy Cupcakes fan. Sometimes it gets super busy, but what do you expect when everyone wants such amazing cupcakes! Their Red Velvet is the best in town and my personal favorite, the Fudge Yummy is an amazing chocolate cupcake, FILLED with GANACHE!!! It also has chocolate buttercream and these great chocolate sprinkles. I urge the people who had bad experiences there to try Yummy again, from my understanding they've undergone a bit of an management change, maybe that was the issue...because these cupcakes are AMAZING!!! I've tried a lot of cupcakes and this one takes the cake!
Pros: Great family atmosphere, seating, friendly staff, DELICIOUS down home cupcakes like your mama would make, and the lowest priced cupcakes around!
Cons: Sometimes a bit busy, but hey, what can you expect for deliciousness!

My first experience with Internet grocers was Vons, and that was a near disaster. If Vons couldn't find what you wanted, you didn't get a substitute even if you'd ordered basics like bread or milk. Almost as bad, you had to plan delivery a couple of days in advance, unless you wanted to pay a big premium. Now HomeGrocer.com, aka Yummy.com, which launched in 2002 but ran into problems expanding from its original West Hollywood location, is back throughout Westside, promising to live up to its original promise of good products, service and prices. I tried them out, and I got everything I ordered, with delivery in the promised 30 minutes. Because I ordered more than $75 worth of grocerties, I didn't have to pay the regular $3.99 delivery fee (although the delivery guy obviously does not refuse a tip). If you don't have time to go to the market, home delivery via the Internet from HomeGrocer/Yummy looks like a pretty good deal. The downside is that the selection is somewhat limited. Maybe that will change if online consumers start clicking energetically. Look for the "HomeGrocer" name in new marketing/advertising initiatives, although the original "Yummy" name is still used here and there. Both names share the same phone number and Web site. http://www.homegrocer.com
