I see this store everytime I exit the freeway, so being an avid record collector, I finally had an opportunity to stop and check it out. I had high hopes of what kind of treasures awaited me inside, but only left dissappointed. The selection of rock records left much to be desired, and I had a hard time navagating the store as there were excessive unpacked boxes all over the place, which seemed not to be just a temporary thing. The store was a mess. It also appeared to me that nobody worked there. I constantly scanned the store, for staff, but was unable to attract any help, despite my obvious need for assistance, so I can only assume no one works there. I really have no desire to ever return there.
Pros: Plenty of street parking (meters)
Cons: No service, mediocre selection

So, House of Records, a small record and cd shop on the West Side of LA is a great place for finding all the old music, new music and hard to find music you’ve been searching for without having to feel stupid for liking something that’s not “in”. The guy that runs the shop (most days) is the sweetest and is willing to keep an eye out for ya and they give very fair prices on your exchanges. I also go there for many of the record labels newest releases because they sell them for a price you’d pay at a corporation like Best Buy or Target ($9.99), but I feel good knowing I’m helping a small business survive. Definitely check them out.

This record store is full of CDs that you could never go through them all. They are all pretty much brand new a lot of them are still factory sealed. you can find the rarest album here for a great price. They sometimes have albums here before they are released. This is also a great place to get your album by local artists that are sold at bigger stores. Trade your music in here for cash or store credit. You can also find a wide selection of records and movies.

Record stores are a dying breed these days, which is why House of Records is such a gold mine. I can spend hours here just looking. Friendly, knowledgable staff.

I love House of Records for its unpretentious, easy going, helpful staff always ready to show you what's good or what's in stock these days. Solid and wide collection of rock, pop, jazz, indie and electronica. Most of what's available is used vinyl and an ok sampling of CDs. If you are looking for copies of your favorite Pink Floyd, Beatles, Led Zeppelin albums that the dog chewed or mom through out years ago, look no further.
