I ordered a beef chimichanga, which turned out to be the perfect size for me, because when I saw my boyfriend's monstrous-looking burrito (don't get me wrong, it was very delicious, but it was humongous!), I started to get a bit nervous. The chimichanga was about half the size, and nice and crisp. Prices were great, and my margarita was quite an eye-opener. I will definitely go back again! This restaurant is cash only, by the way - fyi in case you're used to using plastic like I am. I was also very pleased with the attentive and friendly staff.

I've been coming here for twenty years. I've never had a bad meal-- and it becomes the favorite of everyone of my friends who comes as well. The funny thing is, almost everyone I know orders the same thing over and over. I like the Super Special Chicken. My girlfriend likes the Valencia Chicken. My buddy loves the Carnitas. No matter what, it's always a feast. But if you're extra hungry try the Sopa de Albondigas as appetizer (Meatball Soup). My mouth's watering now thinking about it all. And it's so friggin inexpensive. My favorite Mexican place-- and I've tried them all. Not gloppy-- super fresh ingredients. I've always thought you can judge a place by it's chips and salsa. These never disappoint (and are served with pickled carrots too). Also: ask for the house hot sauce-- homemade and extra fiery.

If so, you'll love Gilbert's. It's one of those unassuming little places that you hear about via word of mouth and the margaritas in particular are highly touted. The place gets pretty busy on weekend evenings, when the compact, dimly lit dining area comes alive. The entrees with meat are all excellent, but vegetarians have only one option (a burrito) which is tasty but mostly beans and lettuce.

Try this place on a weeknight because it's packed on the weekend.
Large restaurant near the airport, very convienent to get in and out of. All the usual staples are good, but leave room for dessert at this place. Generous portions, but not too sweet. They really excel at bringing out subtle flavor without heavy sugar, syrup, etc.
Reasonable prices.

Gilbert's is a family run restaurant that is a local favorite. Be prepared to wait (especially on the weekends) for a table however tables turn over quickly. Portions are generous and food is authentic Mexican. As an added bonus don't forget a margarita or two. The casual atmosphere is perfect for families. Once you discover this restaurant you'll return often.
