Citysearch Editorial Review
Located on an otherwise nondescript stretch of Wilshire Boulevard across the street from a park, this chocolate-colored lodge might not look like much from the outside, but the busy valet in the driveway might hint that there's something good going on inside. Designed by Thomas Schoos (Koi, O-Bar), the space weaves between several distinct areas. The softly-lit front bar and lounge is where well-to-do locals and an after-work crowd gather for a drink and unwind, while the main indoor dining area, replete with flickering candles, is decidedly calmer. Walk toward the sprawling outdoor patio and it's clear this is where the real action is--the surprisingly large space features an elevated, glassed-in private room as well as fire pits, lush trees and a towering bar. Executive Chef Andrew Kirschner whips his seasonally driven, organic-minded menu into shape with a strong emphasis on detail. Wood-grilled steaks (from filet mignon to Japanese Kobe, upon availability) are precisely cooked to order while specials like the miso-marinated black cod offer a flavorful melt-in-your-mouth experience. Just be forewarned: This place ain't cheap.

The ambiance is great and the food was very good (for the most part) at Wilshire. The pricing policies are ridiculous, though. Do they know there's a recession and they should be doing everything... More >

Genuinely Lackluster. Wilshire was a better restaurant when it opened!!! In just a few years it has gone from progressive to downright precocious. Absolutely no maturity coming out of the Kitchen... More >
