I'm constantly amazed at the people who trash Cafe Pasquale's dinner menu--I always take out-of-towners there and I don't think I've had a bad meal. Coming from Los Angeles I can appreciate the mix of pan-asian dishes with New Mexican and American. Terrific desserts, I would recomment the roasted peach ice cream any time. Service is usually good, only downside is the small restaurant sometimes makes for tight quarters and it can be hard to get reservations. The community table can be a good way to meet other people from all over.

Pasquals is a very unique restaurant. The food is New Mexican style with a twist. I've never eaten anything there that I didn't like. My favorite meal there is breakfast, but you better get there early or make a reservation because they are alway busy! And it's small, but very cozy. It is located on the plaza so it's a central location and close to everything. They also sell fabulous cookbooks I would recommend eating the huevos rancheros

I have dined at Cafe Pasqual's several time over the years. My most recent experience (1/08) may be my last. Although we were greeted by a friendly host and seated relatively promptly, our server was brusque and unhelpful, seemingly resentful that he had to serve customers at all. The food was tasty, but only in an ordinary way. None of the dishes our party of five ordered piqued anyone's interest. Certainly no entrees justified their high prices. Established restaurants in Santa Fe sometimes rest on their laurels and lose their way, perhaps seduced by the ready money of the tourist trade. This fate, alas, seems to have befallen Cafe Pasqual's. Pros: Still a fun atmosphere Cons: Food, service, high prices

Prior to this we have had lunch there and it was fine. We recently had dinner there and the dinner menu is totally different from the lunch menu. It was quite bad and way overpriced! Sweet pork for tacos, fish wrapped in banana leaves that tasted like they had been wrapped in grass clippings. They cannot pull off their chic menu. Stick to breakfast and lunch.

My sister and I passed by this restaurant several times and there was always a line to get in. We finally stopped by and made reservations for dinner and it was delicious! The cuisine is very creative, with organic ingredients used as much as possible. The portions were adequate, and the staff very friendly. Our waiter expertly steered us to just the right dishes, and his wine suggestions were right on. We will definitely return to this spot on our next visit. This is the best brunch in Santa Fe - maybe the best brunch in the southwest United States. Pasqual's is a small, cozy, local feeling place. The menu is extensive and the food is outstanding. Heuvos Rancheros - my breakfast standard - has never tasted so good. They can make it mild to spicy - if you've got courage - go spicy. The wait can be long (over an hour) so get your name in early and then wander around downtown Santa Fe.

Cafe Pasquals holds a special place in my heart, because that is where my husband and I had our first date. However, we continue to eat here several times a year and marvel at how it pleases EVERY TIME. The food is fresh, mostly organic- gourmet with a New Mexico slant. Although the dining room is small, and by some estimations, crowded, it is still romantic and unique. Definitely make reservations at least a couple nights ahead of time.

Wow! I was told by friends this was a breakfast "must," and they were right. The trout hash with poached eggs that my husband ordered was heavenly. They will make a half order for half-price plus $1, so I ordered a half-portion of the chorizo egg burrito. It was still large enough for 2 to share; spicy, flavorful and a good buy. We ate here our last morning in Santa Fe; had I known how good it was, I would have eaten here every morning!
