I literally CRAVE the blue corn tacos. And watch out for those margaritas! The tequilla list is long and varied but whichever marg you order is going to be really strong. One big drawback is having to drive to and from the farflung location. Nobody who has had even one of the potent margaritas there should be driving! I love the place and can't wait to go back. Definitely wait for a seat in the bar, which is filled with locals and tourists alike.
Pros: Casual, fun, authentic New Mexican dining
Cons: There can be a wait and you can't walk there

Kevin. ONE HELL OF A WAITER. I didn't time him or anything but I'm pretty sure he's the most efficient man I've ever done business with. Plus I just saw the guy carry around 15 empty margarita glasses in one hand.

The carne adovada was awful. There are chile stems and a truckload of seeds. Made with no care whatsoever.
In spite of the kitchen workers staring at me I had a hard time getting the attention of the waitron for drink refills. I was never asked "How is your food"? I did get a bill dumped on the table in a drive-by.
Lemon juice in margaritas? riiiigggghhhhttt.
Pros: None
Cons: Got a terabyte to spare?

When I moved to Santa Fe in 1999, I was introduced to Maria's and fell in love with it. I went there often during my two-year stint in the City Different, and always enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the clientele, and the service. On many return trips over the last two years, I have noticed a decided downturn in the restaurant's overall quality. That sometimes happens in conjunction with remodeling, which Maria's has undergone. Pity. I'd swap the new restrooms for some of the old panache any day!
Pros: green chile stew, charm
Cons: service, attitude, watery salsa

My husband and I plan trips to Santa Fe annually with the intention of always returning to Maria's for our New Mexican food fix. We are never disappointed. We live in Texas and are bombarded with Tex-Mex but there is something about the New Mexican style of Mexican food that is much more appealing to us. Keep up the good work, Maria's, and we will keep coming back. Of course, it could also be the margaritas!!!!
